The Business Plan That Changes Your Odds Of Success

Research shows that historically only two to three percent of people succeed in network marketing. If you aren't in this group of people, then here is an overview of a business plan that increases your chance of success, no matter what company you are associated with. The four steps in this proven plan are: leads, sales, consumption, and duplication.

Lead Generation

The first step in this business plan is to generate targeted leads. This does not mean paying for or buying leads from lead companies. This is about having your own website (not a replicated website) and owning your traffic. In other words, setting yourself up to be the master of your own destiny.

You will need to use the internet to your own advantage to build qualified traffic. This is best done through establishing yourself as a brand. This means that you will need to differentiate yourself so that you stand out as being a unique voice. Sometimes this can be called attraction marketing. However, what it really is, simply, is using internet marketing tools and techniques to build your business.

As part of the process to establish yourself as a brand, you will need to establish yourself as an expert in an area of your business. This may sound difficult but is actually again a simply process. Once you have decided on the topic area, you will need to develop content for your website. This will enable you to build traffic using internet marketing techniques. In turn this will build your reputation as an expert in the field which will attract people to you. Some of these people will contact you about your business.

A key benefit of the attraction marketing technique is that you do not need to chase leads or prospects. Instead, you set up a system where those who are interested actually contact you. That way, you are only dealing with those who do have an interest in what you have to offer. These people are far easier to work with and you will be more effective in building your business.

Sales Conversion

There are basically two types of sales conversion in this business plan - the products you are promoting and the business opportunity. The first focus should be on the product, as in all likelihood, that is the reason the person has found your site. Then, when some of them show an interest in the business opportunity, you can move to introduce them to the business model and how they can profit.

To convert your interested prospects into sales of either type does rely on selling skills, no matter what anyone may tell you. Therefore, spend some time learning the basic selling skills. It is also worth learning basic web copywriting skills too. However, as you are dealing with prospects that have approached you, in many cases they will have already sold themselves which will make your task easier.

Ongoing Consumption

The success of any network marketing business is based on consumption. Otherwise it is only a "house of cards" that will blow over. Aim to have your regular loyal users of your product or service signed up for auto-shipments. This provides a very effective way of conducting business that enables you to spend more time working on your business, rather than in your business.

Also, there is no reason why you cannot diversify your income streams - you don't have to show loyalty to only one company. Many people will visit your website but only a few will become customers or be involved in the business. There are a number of ways you can work to make money from the traffic you receive so that you can profit. Some tools include placing Adsense to your site, selling advertising space, promoting related affiliate programs, etc.

Duplication

The only focus you have should have is to build a sustainable business. As part of this, you need to coach and mentor your business builders in the same business plan concepts that you have found successful - including encouraging them to be their own unique voice too. Through doing this, you will build a surprisingly strong and loyal downline that is a key strength in your future business success.

So there it is - the business plan that improves your odds of success in your network marketing business. If you put these into action diligently, and adopt a "get rich slowly" approach, then you will experience success in this business to a significantly greater degree than you have previously. Here's to your success!

New Year Resolutions For Network Marketers

Do you want 2008 to be your best year yet in network marketing? Here are four key resolutions for you to consider that will really make a significant difference to your business success.

Make Extra Time in Your Week for Your Own Skill Development

As you want better results than you have previously achieved, you will need to improve how you work your business. There is an old saying that says if you keep on doing the same thing, in the same way, you will get the same results. One of the best ways to do things differently is through the application of the knowledge you learn in your ongoing skill development - especially in areas that are critical to your business success.

Key skills to focus on for improving your business include better understanding how business works, advanced internet marketing techniques, basic and advanced selling techniques, copywriting for the net and leadership. Interpersonal skills are also something that we can never cease learning about. Remember, it is often those who are very good at communicating that experience significant success in life and business.

Become Part of a Mentor or Coaching Program

Don't rely on your upline to be your mentor or coach. While they should have a vested interest in your success, the chances are they have already imparted all the knowledge they have to you. Instead, find a mentor or coach who is interested in challenging you to build a better business and stimulate you on to greater success. Also, ensure that your coach will challenge you to look for ways to improve all aspects of your life as well as devote time to further skill development.

Sometimes the greatest successes are found through being a renegade and breaking with the "old ways" of doing business activities. A new way of looking at how you conduct you business may lead to some different approaches to what every other network marketer is using that increases your success. That's why a coach or mentor who is not actively involved in your upline can be of great assistance.

Develop Your Own Targeted Lead Sources

If you are buying leads for your business, you will need to reconsider whether this is going to be best for your long term business success. Give serious thought to and focus on how you can develop lead sources that you own so that you can be assured your leads are not shared with others. This will enable you to develop a very valuable business asset that will provide you with long term success.

A key consideration could be to build you as a brand. This will involve you having to differentiate yourself from others and will include you building expertise in a subject area associated with your business. This will enable you to become an attractor rather than a prospector. What I mean by this is that you need to develop a system where your leads come to you asking to join your business, rather than you chasing them.

Continuously Increase the Effectiveness of Your System

All business success is based on an effective marketing system. This is the case even in network marketing. The old system of drawing up a list of names, contacting family and friends, and then expanding out to others is obsolete. This is not an effective system for most people. Today, the principles of internet marketing, when combined with network marketing, can lead to tremendous success if done properly.

To increase your success, focus on continuously improving your internet marketing system wherever you can. This can involve automating aspects of it where you can. It also involves measuring your activities and establishing benchmarks so that you know when you have made improvements. It is not wise to set and forget systems. Things can change and problems can occur. Continue to monitor all automated systems to ensure they are doing the activity they are supposed to.

Well, there you have it! In my opinion, these are the four most significant factors that will impact on your success in 2008. Through having a consistent and diligent focus on these, you will experience the best year you have ever had in your network marketing business. Here's to your success!

8 Powerful Reasons To Start A Legitimate Work At Home Business

No matter what you currently do for a living I guarantee that there is some aspect of the job that you are not happy with. Maybe it's the getting up early, crazy out of control hours, or even that you've been there forever and are still working for circus peanuts (no offense to any circus peanuts reading this).

While it's true that most people aren't happy with some aspect of their job few people will ever do anything about it. What about those people who do want to do something about it though? Some might say look for another job while I say start your own legitimate work at home business.

It has never been easier for someone with a little desire and a couple dollars to transform themselves into an internet entrepreneur practically overnight. After consulting with several other home business owners I've put together 8 powerful reasons why everyone should start their own legitimate work at home business. It's really not as hard as you might think!

#1 - You Can Start Part Time

Just because you decide to go into business for yourself doesn't mean you need to quit your job, rent out an office, get a loan from the bank for thousands of dollars, and create your own product to sell. In fact, all you really need to do is decide what type of home business you want to start (network marketing, direct sales, affiliate marketing, etc), see how much time you could dedicate to that business on a daily basis and away you go. 90% of home business owners started part-time and after a certain period of time turned their part time venture into full-time profits. Then after the money started rolling in they quit their job.

#2 - It Doesn't Cost That Much

If you have a computer, telephone, and internet connection you pretty much have all the tools you need to operate your new venture. The great thing about the Internet is that you don't need to rent an office, hire employees, and partake in many of the other headaches that brick and mortar businesses face.

#3 - The World Is Your Customer

Do you know how many people there are in the world? Just think, because of the Internet a large percentage of them are potential customers for your business. Depending on exactly what type of home business you start you have the ability to run a multi-national operation directly from your kitchen table or home office.

#4 - No Experience Needed

It doesn't matter if you are a 6 figure professional or a minimum wage fry cook. If you have a good idea or align yourself with the right opportunity you can make more money than you ever though possible. There are countless stories of people who had absolutely no experience, no money, and a string of bad luck who are now some of the biggest home business success stories. The truth is that the only thing that can hold you back is a negative attitude not a lack of experience.

#5 - Multiple Streams of Income

Many of the great business philosophers in the world talk about creating multiple streams of income. The four major types of income are as follows: Job, owning a business, real estate, other investments (stocks, mutual funds, etc). The question is, how can you ever invest in real estate and stocks with your current salary which barely pays the bills? The solution again is starting your own home business and putting profits towards other streams of income.

#6 - No Limit Earning Potential

With a job you are very limited to how much money you can ever make. Sure you have the ability to get a raise here and there but the prospects of doubling, tripling, or quadrupling, your income anytime soon is probably out of the picture. The great thing about having your own work at home business is the fact that there really isn't a cap on how much money you can make. Depending on what kind of home business you align yourself with the sky really is the limit.

#7 - Piggyback Off Others

Guess what? There are thousands of people that came before you and paved a way for you to make money online. You don't need to be the next Bill Gates to live a very comfortable lifestyle. The first thing you want to do is determine what type of home business you would like to start. Then set out to find experienced mentors and systems that can help you make that business a huge success.

#8 - More Time Doing What You Love

While it's true that in the beginning you are going to be putting plenty of time into your business to get it off and running, the good news is that it's only temporary. By setting yourself up with the right home business opportunity and right system all your hard work will start paying off down the road leaving you free to do what you want and still make money.

In closing...

So there you have it, 8 powerful reasons to start a legitimate work at home business. Of course there are thousands of other benefits and perks but many of them will be different for various people. Find out what motivates you, find the right home business, and then start obtaining your goals of more money, time, and freedom. Best of Luck!

5 Unique Skills You Need For Home Business Success

If you are currently searching for the right home based business or already started one, you might be wondering what unique skills successful people demonstrate and that unsuccessful people don't. The truth is that hundreds of people are starting new ventures everyday but sadly most of them will call it quits within the next 3 to 12 months.

Over the next few minutes I'm going to share with you 5 unique skills you need to master to achieve home business success. As you read this information, I challenge you to see where you stand in these five categories as well as see what things you might need to work on.

#1 - Discipline

The first unique skill is need to master is discipline. One of the hardest things of moving from the "employee" mentality to the "be your own boss" mentality is the fact that you no longer have someone watching your every move. What motivates an employee is getting a paycheck every two weeks and doing just enough to not lose that paycheck.

Of course, if you go about your own home based business this way you will find too many ways to fail including, procrastination, distractions, and lack of experience. You really need to be aware of what you are doing while you are working and constantly ask yourself if you are staying on task.

Another reason discipline is such an important skill is because you will be working out of your home. Working from home is great but also brings all the distractions of your household right into your office. It's very easy to go turn on the TV every now and then or go grab a quick sandwich when you shouldn't be taking a break. A spouse, kids, and/or pets can also distract you from getting the most out of your work session.

To help you master the skill of discipline I suggest you do two things. First, write down all the distractions you will face working from home and the consequences that will happen to your business if you let those distractions take you away from your work. Second, post that list in your office to keep you aware of distractions as they happen throughout your work day. Being aware of what's going on and adjusting accordingly is the best way to create a disciplined home based business environment.

#2 - Self-Determination

Congratulations! You are the boss; you are in control of every aspect of your home business. With this new found responsibility can come some major pressure especially if money and time are on the line. This is why self determination is the second unique skill you must poses to achieve home business success.

If work doesn't get done, a deal doesn't get closed, or profits aren't made there is only one person to point the finger at and that's you. It's very easy to get discouraged when things don't go how you planned and this is when self determination really comes into play.

Take on challenges head on and don't take failure as an option. I have found that you can always come up with a solution if you really put your mind to something. You are going to face many challenges with your new venture and the key between turning those challenges into successes is how determined you are to do so.

#3 - Optimism

There are two types of people in this world. Some people see the glass half empty (Pessimists) while others see it half full (Optimists). I don't believe there has ever been a successful entrepreneur who was a pessimist. Too many things occur when running a business that are just plain frustrating and how we deal with them is the only thing that keeps a business running smoothly.

An optimistic person looks to find the good in things and is always looking for the silver lining inside the rain cloud. Being optimistic is important for many reasons. First off, it's much easier to find solutions to problems. Second, it makes you a more efficient worker. A positive attitude clears your head and keeps out the doubt that will constantly by creeping in.

#4 - Willingness to Learn

One of my favorite quotes is from business philosopher, Jim Rohn. Mr. Rohn says, "Formal education can earn you a living; self-education can earn you a fortune." What powerful words from a man who is a huge proponent of the home based business industry. Having a willingness to learn is the fourth unique skill you must poses to be successful with your unique business.

No matter how much you think you know, there are always others out there that have more experience and advice that you should be actively seeking. Read books, attend conferences, interview experts, and always keep learning.

#5 - Willingness to Invest

Running a home based business is going to require two major investments on your behalf. The first is money and the second is time. Although running your business out of your home allows you to cut down on major business expenses you still are going to need to spend money on marketing, equipment, and furthering your knowledge. Since most people start out without a lot of start up funds it's important that you are very careful where you place your money and that you are always looking for that return on investment otherwise known as ROI.

Your investment of time is another key ingredient to success. Time is very crucial in the beginning because you are going to need to get everything set up and get yourself out there. If you put in the time in the beginning you will find that you will have much more free time later on.

In closing, we have covered 5 unique skills you must master for home based business success. I'm sure as you read through these you found some you are already on top of and some that could use a little work. Spend the time to perfect each one of these skills and nothing should be able to hold you back.

The Little Known Secrets To Writing Successful Home Business Goals

No matter what aspect of your life you are talking about, goal setting is a crucial factor. Of course it's especially important if you want to be a successful home business owner. Each step you make as an entrepreneur will affect the direction your business is going and goals help lead you in the right direction.

You should also set goals because they can help you to make the right decisions as you go through the trials and obstacles all home business owners face. By investing the time and energy in to creating goals right from the beginning, you will have a road map for success. This road map will guide you through each decision you make that gets you one step closer to where you want to be. In other words, if you set some overall goals today, you can help insure that your business will be prosperous tomorrow.

While we all have the same universal desire to find success and make money, everyone's idea of success and actual dollar amount will be a bit different. Some people want to make millions a year while others would be more than happy with a few thousand coming in each and every month. Whatever the case, it all starts by making a decision, writing it down, and obtaining belief that you can achieve it.

How To Set Home Business Goals Successfully:

Many people are intimidated about the future which makes goal setting a hard task. While there are plenty of opportunities for mistakes to be made, the goal writing process really isn't all that hard. The real challenge comes in actually following through with what we set out to do.

A good exercise for determining good goals is to brainstorm as many thoughts about what you want to be like in the future. Simply sit down with a blank sheet of paper (yes, you can use your computer too!) and avoid all distractions for ten minutes.

Write down anything and everything that comes to your mind. Remember, your just brainstorming now so it's all about getting as many thoughts as you can written down on paper.

Here are a few questions to get your going:

Where do you want to be in a year?
Who do you want to have with you?
Where do you see your home business in five years? 10?
How much money would make you happy this year?

After you've brainstormed for at least 10 minutes you should have quite a bit of info written down. With this information you will now be able to create some solid and secure goals that you will feel good about.

Home Business Goal Writing Made Easy Through Some Basic Steps:

1. Write down your longest term goal. This is where you want to be in a number of years.

2. Give yourself a time frame for making that happen. You may want to say that you want to make your first million in two years. Or, it may take many more for that to happen. Giving your goal a time frame helps to get your mind set in how to make that happen. If you leave it open ended, the long term goals are not benefited by your actions each day, as they would be here.

3. Give yourself smaller goals to reach as steps up to the larger one. For example, as a new online entrepreneur you may have a short term goal of getting a basic online marketing campaign set up and running within a month's time. In six months, you might have a goal of learning 10 new ways to drive traffic to your website and implementing each one of them. As you can see these short term goals are stepping stones to a long term goal.

4. Write down your goals on paper in the following manner. "Within six months, I will have paid off all debt that I owe and be running in the clear. I will also have learned 10 new online marketing techniques that will be driving traffic to my business and making me sales." By writing your goal down in this manner, you have listed not only what the goal is and the time frame to have it done, but also how you will get there.

5. Take this piece of paper and place it everywhere and anywhere that you will see it at least several times per day. Seeing it will allow you to think it. Thinking about it makes it happen. Success through goals is the only way to find it.

Final thoughts... Goal writing really isn't as hard as it seems. All it requires is a little time to sit down, withdraw yourself from the fast paced world, and think about what you really want. After you have a clear vision the rest of it should be pretty easy. Put your goals on paper, read them every day, and develop a "can't lose" mentality that will keep you going through the hard times. Remember, by simply writing your goals on paper you will put yourself ahead of 50% of the home business owners out their that "don't have the time" to plan out the future. Do the little things and reap the big rewards!

Top 7 Mistakes Network Marketers Make

Whether you are new to Network Marketing or you are a seasoned MultiLevel Marketing pro, you might be making one of these common mistakes that will suck the life out of your business, and the fun out of your profession. Look over this list of common mistakes new distributors make and see if you can see yourself doing any of these things.

7) They don't use their sponsor's support
An upline is there to help and support new distributors as they grow their business. The MLM motto: "You are in business FOR yourself, but not BY yourself." Especially in the beginning, new distributors should ask for help as needed, not just for questions, but also for assistance with sponsoring.

Tag-team sponsoring is something many MultiLevel Marketing professionals use to help new distributors. Tag-team sponsoring is where both the new distributor and his sponsor either get together with a prospect online, like in a conference chat, or in person, at an opportunity meeting. The new distributor brings the prospect, but the sponsor gives the presentation. The prospect would then sign up under the new distributor, even though his sponsor gave the presentation.

6) They share negativity with their downline
In all companies, there are negatives. Usually this happens in a time of change for the company. The worst mistake a distributor can make is to send these negatives downline.

When a distributor is upset about something, the correct thing to do is to bring it to the company's attention, or to the attention of their sponsor. Unfortunately, many inexperienced distributors choose to rag on their downline about it. When the distributor does this, their downline starts to turn negative too. They will quit when this happens. A sponsor always needs to remain positive with his downline.

5) They make the prospect feel too important
When a distributor is speaking to a prospect, he should not make it seem as though he is desperate to enroll them. If the prospect thinks that he is a rare gem, and the distributor is in dire need of them, it will make it seem as though it is difficult to sponsor others. Instead, the prospect should be made to feel as though he is being dealt a favor. He should be aware that the Network Marketer is looking for a specific type of person, for example, one that is honest, dependable, a team player, and motivated, and that if they do not have these skills then they should look elsewhere least they waste everyone's time.

4) They talk too much
If a Multi Level Marketer talks too much, two things happen: The prospect tunes him out because he doesn't want to hear any more mumbo jumbo and the prospect feels MLM is too hard for them to do. They feel they have to learn a vast amount of information in order to talk that much, or perhaps the prospect is not a big talker themselves. Either way, it's not good!

3) They tell the prospect without asking
Most MLMers will start out a conversation with a new prospect by going into a prepared speech about their company. This is the wrong way to do it. A wise distributor will not volunteer any information about his opportunity until he knows what the prospect is looking for.

Questions like "What kind of work are you in now? Oh, that sounds interesting! How do you like it?" can get the conversation started. After listening for responses and asking follow up questions, it is easier to offer a solution, such as the opportunity, to the problems expressed by the prospect.

2) They seek people who are dependent instead of independent
If a distributor promises the moon to his prospects in order to sign them up, the prospect will enter the business expecting his sponsor to do all the work. When an distributor goes out and recruits only those who are completely dependent on him, they will not go out and do their business on their own, but will constantly be saying "I don't know anyone" or "when are you going to place someone under me?". The business the distributor is trying to build will crumble from within.

1) They make the opportunity sound too easy
Network Marketing is not easy. It takes time, effort, energy, and real work and commitment. Network Marketers have a bad rap of making the business into a Get Rich Quick scheme, and those who choose to promote their business in this manner are setting themselves up for failure.

When a prospect is told that an opportunity is "simple" and "easy", they expect their business to spring up around them without doing any work and they don't understand that they need to market their business in order to make money. So they get frustrated, and quit. The distributor might not have any trouble sponsoring those who want to get rich quick, but he will have a horrible time trying to retain them, as they move onto the next "sure thing".

Market Your MLM Only To People Who Are Looking

The reason most people fail in MLM and Network Marketing is because MLM companies are teaching everyone who joins to accomplish nearly impossible feats. Allow me to explain...

Let's say, for example, your MLM company sells Coke. As a distributor of Coke, your MLM company and your upline are going to tell you to do things like:

* Make a list of 50 to 100 people in your "warm market" (ie: family, friends, co-workers, etc.)

* Do 3-way calls with your upline

* Talk to everyone that comes within 3 feet of you (the famous "3-foot rule")

* Conduct "home parties" and drag people to MLM hotel meetings.

* Hand out 1000's of fliers, brochures, CD's and DVD's

...etc, etc...

Basically, your MLM company wants you to talk to the people you already know (or everyone you come in contact with), have them watch a DVD or read a brochure, get them on the phone with your upline, and attend a demonstration of some kind, either at your home or a local hotel meeting. (I know, nothing new here. Stay with me.)

The purpose of all this activity is to convince people that they should all drink your Coke and join you in convincing everyone else to drink Coke.

I get e-mails all the time with people asking, "How do I convince people to join my XYZ MLM company?"

So many people don't realize the main problem is actually so simple that it's slapping them in the face... you cannot ever 'CONVINCE' anyone to do anything they don't already want to do. It's nearly impossible. I defy anyone to convince a die-hard vegetarian to order (and eat) a 16oz rib-eye steak. Good luck with that. It's a nearly impossible feat.

Why would anyone even try to do this? It's insane.

You could try talking to 100's of vegetarians, and maybe you'd get one once in a while, and then everyone would be asking people like me, "How do I convince vegetarians to try my steak? What do I say to them?" Then, you'd see a ton of web sites bashing these crazy meat sales companies that are trying to sell to vegetarians and saying all meat salespeople are freaks. Hmmm. Nah... probably not.

And, yet, that's exactly what just about every MLM company is teaching their distributors do: They want you to go out and convince all the Pepsi drinkers, the Gatorade drinkers, the 7-up drinkers, the coffee drinkers to drink Coke.

What's worse, these MLM companies don't even teach you how to discover what your prospect is currently drinking, let alone if they even so much as have an interest in your Coke. They just tell you to relentlessly shove it into everyone's face.

Why in the world would you waste your time talking to someone who has no interest in what you've got, whether it's a nutritional product, or a business opportunity, or a 52" flatscreen?

Why would a butcher waste one second with a vegetarian when there are so many steak-lovers out there?

If you take anything away from here, it should be this:

We, as consumers, LOVE to buy! But, we absolutely hate to be sold.

So, to become successful in MLM and network marketing, you must first find out if your prospect even has a need, want, or desire for what you're offering. Just help them get what they're already looking for and they'll buy it, but don't try to convince them that they need it more than they think they need or want it.

If they don't have a need or want... next!

Now, granted, you might talk to 100 people saying, "Hey, do you eat steak? Hi, do YOU like steak?" and they may all say, "No." But, isn't that so much more efficient than spending and hour or two or three, giving your full pitch trying to convince them and have them still say 'No' anyway?

Of course it is. You can talk to 10 or 20 times as many people doing it this way.

Remember -MLM is just a numbers game. And, when I say 'numbers,' I don't mean "try to talk to at least 10 people this week."

The trick is to run through large numbers of people in a short time. You've got to talk to 100 people a week -maybe even 200.

Spending just a couple seconds per person will help you accomplish these kind of numbers so you can more quickly find the people who will automatically say, "Actually, yes, I am very interested in that. Tell me more."

Not to mention you won't join the "NFL" club doing it this way because you've properly qualified people - it shows you respect them. (NFL = No Friends Left)

You have my word and promise that there are millions and millions of people out there who are actively looking for the benefit of whatever MLM product or service your MLM company offers and there are lots of great MLM companies.

But, they'll never find you if you're wasting your time with all the wrong people who aren't intested in the first place. (Google: 'Law of Attraction')

It's never about you. It's about them. You must completely remove your needs out of your head - permanently.

For example, if your MLM company offers nutritional products, look for people who are "actively looking" to become more healthy. Never talk to people who aren't already looking to become more healthy - they aren't interested.

Doesn't it make sense that it would be so much easier to recruit someone who already wants to be more healthy, instead of spending hours and hours chasing people down to try to convce them they should start being more healthy?

Not to mention, they'll probably be a long-life consumer, too.

Leave the overweight bon-bons and beer guzzler on the couch with his remote control. He doesn't think he has a problem, and he doesn't have a desire for the benefit of what you have to offer (better health). So, stop trying to convince him.

Remember, it's not about you.

Another example, if your MLM company offers legal services, find people who are worried about legal issues or have legal concerns (there's millions of them out there in today's world. No, really). Don't waste your time trying to convince people who could care leass about their legal issues.

Am I making any sense? If your MLM is selling Coke, then you should be actively looking for thousands of people who are already looking for Coke products, can afford Coke, and are thirsty for Coke.

I promise you... there are millions of thirsty consumers out there who love and want the benefits of drinking Coke. But, please... leave your friends and family alone.

They all drink Pepsi.

How To Make Money In MLM: Do The Math

MLM, or network marketing, is still one of the best business opportunities available, hands down. Someone with very little money and education can generate a 6 or even +7-figure income, if they know what they're doing. Unfortunately, most have no clue and buy into the hype of quickly making Millions by simply recruiting 3 who find 3. These numbers simply don't work that way.

So, let's make sure we're on the same page together.

I'll start with the bad news.

Statistically, you have a 99% chance of failing to make money in MLM and network marketing. Less than 2% ever earn more than an average of $110 per year, while shelling out thousands of dollars in credit card debt on product samples, fliers, CD's, DVD's, company web sites, traveling to conferences, etc.

Only the top 1% ever earn enough to actually quit their jobs and survive. And, while everybody gets excited talking about how they're going to be making 7 and 8-figure incomes, only the top .8% ever reach these levels (yes, that's point eight percent).

By law, MLM companies have to disclose this information to you now, but these numbers don't change much from one MLM company to the next.

Despite these odds, making 6-figures your first year is, actually, very realistic.

While there are many components to successfully marketing your business, you must first step back and look at the simple mathematics of building a downline that will create the level of income you desire in a realistic timeframe to see if it's even feasible for you based on your marketing abilities.

Let's say you believe you can beat the odds. After all, everyone knows statistics can easily be manipulated to prove anything. Besides, you're not going to allow yourself to fail.

Good for you!

Then, let's run the numbers.

Most people would like to retire with at least $1 Million annual income. So, we'll use $1 Million to keep things simple and conservative. If you want, say, $2 Million, then just double everything here.

Many MLM companies like to say you can retire in about 5 years of working hard. I agree ...if you know what you're doing and are in the top .8% (that's point eight).

The math gets a little sticky here because products and services vary widely from one MLM company to the next, as well as the pricing, pay plans, bonuses, etc. However, using a "loose" industry average, each person typically earns from around $15 to $40 in monthly residual income from each distributor in their downline. You may plug in a number that you think fits your pay plan best.

For our example, we'll just use $40 per month because it's on the high end (to try to make things look good).

So, for each distributor in your downline, we'll say you will earn an average of $40 per month, every month, forever and ever (even though this is never reality, but we're being super optimistic).

To earn $1 Million a year, you must have about 2085 distributors in your downline. (Of course, if you want $2 Million, go ahead and double it, and so forth.)

If you want to retire in 5 years, you must recruit around 417 new people per year, or about 8 new people per week.

You must recruit 1 new person a day, every single day, (and 2 on Saturdays) for the next 5 years, 365 days a year, with no vacation, no time off, no breaks, nadda.

And, that's assuming 100% of the people that come in never drop out (considering the "real" average drop-out rate is somewhere around 50%, this is completely impossible ...but, remember, we're being super optimistic here).

Even if 100% of every person you talked to signed up (which will never happen) and paid in full, and ordered every month, forever and ever, and never quit...

...is it even possible to recruit 1 new person every single day using "warm-marketing" techniques of talking to people in person or dragging them to your home parties or hotel meetings?

Plus, realistically, you'll probably have to talk to at least 10 people to get 1 person to say yes and sign up... every single day for the next 5 years.

Not to mention, since the average drop-out rate is around 50%, for every 1 that drops out, you'll have to recruit 2.

Therefore, you must give a presentation to at least 20 new people ...every single DAY... for the next 5 years to barely hit your minimum goal of $1 Million annual income.

Is this even possible? In 10 years? 20...?

Even on the 'super optimistic' high end?

Now, you're probably sharp enough to think, "But, wait a minute, Mike. What about my downline recruiting? Won't I come across some superstars with those numbers?

Good thinking, and, yes, you might get lucky to find a real superstar. However, there's only one in about 1250 people, statistically. So, you're going to have to recruit 1250 people before you get lucky to find your superstar.

'Hope' and 'might' and 'luck' are not sound ways to create a business model and base the rest of your financial life (and retirement).

You need to make sure that the business model you're working is something you can actually do and leverage a skilled mentor or trainer who can teach you how to put the numbers in your favor.

Doing the math when joining an MLM company will help you get a clearer perspective on exactly how many people you need to bring in to achieve your goal. Then, you can set your sights on a game plan to reach that goal in a realistic time.

Most never do this, and, probably nobody in your MLM company has illustrated this to you before now.

Nevertheless, lots of people are making great incomes using this business model. If you're not, you need to find someone in this industry who can train you how to put these numbers in your favor.

Here's to your success... in numbers.

Making It Past Your First Year In Network Marketing

Marriages and multi level marketing (MLM) business opportunities, or network marketing in general, have one thing in common: the first year is by far the toughest. The majority of fledgling network marketers fail during their first year in business, and if you believe the divorce statistics in modern day America, newlyweds do not fare much better. Making it past your first year in network marketing takes gumption, dedication, the ability to hold up under scrutiny and not buckle when faced with rejection; yet more than anything else, it requires a most valued and important skill for which no course or e-book laden with online marketing secrets can prepare you: the skill of schmoozing.

You probably have that friend who seems to know everybody. It does not matter if you go to the movies, the flea market, or a restaurant, there is always somebody who is nodding, waving, or stopping by just to greet your friend. He or she gets in conversations with complete strangers, and he is the one who can crack a joke in the long line at the bank on payday and have everyone chuckle. The florist will offer her a little flower for her button hole and the baker might offer a sample of the almond croissant. Even though your friend is not flirting, she or he seems to be on everyone's good side the moment they lay eyes on each other.

You, on the other hand, can run errands all day long and not really make contact with anyone outside that which is required by polite behavior. Nobody offers you any samples, and small children might be throwing their food at you. The odds are good that instead of receiving a flower for your button hole, you trip over the display and end up paying for it. Perhaps you are introverted and simply lack a few people skills, or maybe you have a truly abrasive personality and need a bit of a makeover in that department. For the sake of your business you might have decided to join the local Chamber of Commerce or attended business mixers, but somehow you are still the odd person out.

No matter what the case is, making it past your first year in network marketing will require you to schmooze. It is not a skill you can learn if you completely lack the talent. On the other hand, if you have the talent but thus far it has remained dormant or quite possibly you have not honed it to the extent necessary, you have a good chance of making it past that all important milestone in the existence of your business. Do not deceive yourself, however, if you lack the inborn talent that is schmoozing, you will not succeed in network marketing.

A potential exception is a strictly online business where no personal contact is required and each and every transaction is conducted via email or website. In that kind of situation there is a good chance that you can get away with some learned schmoozing skills that would not hold up in the real world.

Effective Lead Generation, MLM, Marketing Network Business Presentations

Any network marketer worth hr or his keep will want to see the network grow by leaps and bounds but in so doing, the individual understand that only a team player approach will facilitate the goal. Working closely in concert with the up line of which you are a part, you must understand the direction in which those ahead of you are taking the business overall, and thus you will know which springboard to use in order to present your corner of the market. Forget the notion about the marketing maverick that swims against the stream and ends up owning the company. This is the kind of fodder that might have made great the movies which play on the "from mail room to board room" advancement of the little guy, but in real life these situations are not doable.

That said, you will do well to retain your individuality and make use of your one of a kind ability when pursuing effective lead generation, MLM, marketing network business presentations, or even just when you are manning the sample stand at the local mall. There is something about you as a person that will draw individuals to you and the business you are representing which is unique to your personality and you will be wise to learn about yourself what it is that draws people and then use it to your best advantage. Yet even as you make the most of your animal magnetism or open kindness that draws in virtual stranger to stop and talk to you, honing some tried and true presentation skills is still part and parcel of the entire package and the odds of your succeeding in either lead generation MLM, marketing network business presentations or any other kind of venture without it are slim.

To this end, a much overlooked aspect of the presentation is the ability to adequately convey a purpose. Why are you standing at the mall handing out samples? Obviously, you are most likely doing it because someone asked you to, but aside from that fact, as an entrepreneur involved in lead generation MLM, and marketing network business building, why are you in front of the general public with your product? Having the ability to answer this question succinctly and completely is the key to successfully and effectively make it in this line of work.

Identifying the desired outcome of your presentation, honing in on the effect you are attempting to create, and knowing ahead of time which kinds of emotions you want to evoke in your customers or potential leads is the most vital and yet at the same time most commonly neglected aspect of any product or business opportunity presentation. Leads will only be generated if you appeal to something deep within the mind or heart of each individual audience member that will compel the person to see you - and by extension the product and company you are representing - as the answer to a need they may not have had a chance to put a finger on.

The one and only way to achieve this admittedly lofty goal is to find the emotional appeal of your product or business opportunity and then follow it up with the intellectual appeal. This, in a nutshell is the secret to effective lead generation MLM, marketing network business presentations, and all related activities.

How to Find People Who Like MLM

So you bought into the dream. Who doesn't want to make more money working from home? It's almost a question that doesn't need to be asked.

Most likely, "they" didn't tell you that your solution lies in a business model called MLM. All you wanted was more money for your family, and more time to spend with them. You weren't too sure what ways that it could be accomplished. You thought you found something, but it turned out to be more than you bargained for.

MLM or now more commonly known as network marketing, kind of lends itself to a lot of people failing. It's not the business model per se, but the way it's marketed and marketed to. I'm sure you've realized that recruiting friends and family hasn't been as easy as you thought. And purchasing leads and cold calling them doesn't return results fast enough to make a profit-unless you can quickly get good enough to recruit from them.

Now you've been at this awhile and have not had the success that you had hoped for (lots of rejection calling leads, friends and family wants nothing to do with you); you begin to wonder how in the heck do you find people who like MLM?

Most importantly, how do you find people who can do it successfully? Most people who join a network marketing company don't have the experience or training to have success with it.

The best way to build a network marketing business is by finding people who are open to the idea and have taken some sort of action to learn more about it. These are the people worth pursuing and spending your advertising dollars on. You don't want to keep trying to convince people of the value of multi-level marketing;

The people who have already bought into this business model in the first place are your best prospects. This doesn't mean that you go out and try to recruit people from other companies. That's not too ethical. But you can sell the few things that those in network marketing need most.

By selling these items upfront, you'll get retail profits that you can put back into your marketing budget. These same people who have bought from you are more open to join you in your business if they are looking for a new opportunity to call home. People don't necessarily join companies, they join people whom they think can lead them to success.

By leading with a retail product, you can make money upfront to put back into your advertising; it doesn't matter whether the person who bought from you joins your business or not, because you've already made money on them by selling them what they need most.

This system will also helps your newbies stay in longer, because they will go into profit faster than if they're just leading with the business opportunity.

If finding people who like MLM is challenging to you, think about finding people who've already bought into this lucrative business model and lead with a retail product that can fund your business and educate them at the same time. This is the best way to find people for your opportunity.

How to Format Your Ezine Ad for Network Marketing Success

Ezines are a popular and growing method of marketing a product or service. They are often more affordable than working with print publications, yet still have the potential of reaching countless readers.

Reaching your targeted audience by placing an ad in one of these highly subscribed to publications is also much easier than you might imagine. With some simple and effective wording, your regular web site audience and clientele base could double or even triple in size.

Ezine advertising most often falls into three distinct and separate areas or forms. Each offers its own advantages as well as price range. Solo ads tend to be more expensive than a sponsor ad, which is the most common online. A classified ad is often far cheaper than the previous two.

The proper formatting of these ads is instrumental in reaching the appropriate audience with an interesting and effective message. Just as with pricing, each form of ezine advertising should be respected for its own unique abilities and designed in the best possible way to highlight your information.

Solo ads, though more expensive, also bring the best results. The proper formatting for your solo ad must provide several details. It not only outlines a common problem, it must reveal the solution you are offering. Include a bulleted list for highlighting specific areas and remedies to the relevant issues.

Your solo ad also includes a phrase that empowers the user to take action. Further bulleted summaries may be included that summon the reader to work towards solving the problem by purchasing your product or service.

A sponsor ad is another tool that is more cost effective while providing good results. Though these ads are somewhat smaller, they still give you much needed publicity. When designing your sponsor ad, keep your text concise and poignant. A good explanation would be the phrase: Less is more.

These ads may perform as well as solo ads; as long as proper formatting is utilized. Use a powerful headline that states the issue and your solution. Bulleted lists are still appropriate for this method of promotion. As with the solo ad, your sponsor ad spawns ambition or drive towards your product. It reveals your solution or the advantages of your product over your competitors.

The last form of advertising, classified ads, are numerous online. Even these are good if designed in a beneficial and necessary manner. Classified ads are the most cost efficient, but you will need to be more creative to separate from the other ads. This form of ad must still be considered. Force yourself to be as creative and calculating as possible.

The best format for your classified ad always starts with a good headline. Write them in uppercase letters and surround them with asterisks, just as headline in a standard publication. Keep your sentences short and powerful. The same principal applies that encourages your reader to follow your directions and solve the dilemma. You are giving them the advantage.

There are a few basic rules for ezine advertising no matter which method you choose. The reader needs a quick and easy way of accessing your product or service. This means at least one link must be provided in your ad. Give a good, solid link to your web site, and most importantly, your product or service. Some advertisers choose to also include an email address; do this at your own discretion.

Some simple planning and careful consideration makes your network marketing experience the greatest possible.

Making the Most of Your Marketing Network Today Without Falling For the Search Engine Myth

If you would believe the avid purveyors of Internet marketing secrets, the Rosetta stone of online business success rises and falls with the search engine ranking. Entire e-books have been written around the topic of setting up a top ranking website, keeping it up to date, and maintaining its top ranking no matter which way the market turns. Webmasters spend entire nights working around the clock on that last little tweak and will spend good money to have third parties look over their sites and nitpick it into the ground. Making the most of your marketing network today without falling for the search engine myth seems to be next to impossible - or is it?

Those how have been in the business for a while will most likely sagely nod their heads and reminisce about the times that they stayed up for a number of days in order to build a website to the specifications of the day. Yet what the savvy marketers learned, those who weathered the storms and did not quit when the going got tough but instead got going, very simply showcased that there is more to marketing than the gimmicky website and its search engine ranking.

Do not misunderstand! If you have a website, and for your marketing network today you will most certainly need to have one, it should be built to reflect the tastes of those who will most likely visit it, constructed to such a degree that search engines will automatically propel it toward the tops of the rankings, and highly informative so that the consumer who is taking a look at what you have to offer will find the answer they are looking for. Yet the deeper truth the experienced network marketer will want you to know is the fact that a high ranking website alone will not make or break your business.

Making the most of your marketing network today without falling for the search engine myth requires you to take a step back and recall the lessons of old that counseled against putting all your eggs in one basket. Much like that adage, putting all your time, money and effort into a high search engine ranking will not net you the results you are looking for. Customer relationship management, off line advertising, repeat marketing, and a firm eye on the return on investment strategies you are utilizing all play an important role in your business' ultimate success or demise.

Thus, it is not any one aspect that propels your business into success or dooms it to failure, but instead it is a careful concerted action of a plethora of methods which must create a harmony that appeals to the consumers at large. You will reach some, many in fact, with your website; yet you will also reach a large number with direct mailings; others are influenced by ads placed in the Sunday paper while still others will benefit from the sales presentations you might make at the park on Sundays. Discard any one of these marketing aspects, and you will harm your business.

MLM - Is It Real, Or Is It A Fraud?

No doubt you've heard the battle cry of MLM marketers: "Be your own boss and make thousands of dollars a month in just a couple of hours a day!" Everyone wants that, right? Yet, even though some MLM marketing is indeed legitimate, far more of it is simply a scam meant to empty your pockets make someone else rich. Therefore, just as with anything, you need to live by the adage, "Too good to be true." If, indeed, you take care and something turns out to be legitimate, that's great. But it's far better to be cautious upfront and hang onto your money until you know everything there is to know about the particular venture you're investigating. Then and only then should you invest your hard- earned money if in fact you feel that this is a legitimate business opportunity.

First of all, there are a couple of myths to dispel. Never, and I repeat never, is an opportunity out there that will take no work. Any opportunity out there will take at least some effort to set up, get going and maintain. Don't expect to "get rich quick," and do expect to put forth a fair amount of time investment and at least some initial money investment before you see profits.

There are two schools of thought when it comes to MLM. Many speak highly of MLM as a legitimate opportunity, with some qualifiers. For example, Donald Trump was asked what he would do if he had to start all over again today and was looking for something to begin with. His answer unequivocally was MLM. Someone else said that it was a wonderful opportunity to both be your own boss and be mentored at the same time.

Still others see it as nothing more than a scam. One of the major drawbacks is that you probably aren't going to make a lot of money with an MLM until you have a lot of people in your downline, or underneath you. This takes a lot of time to get to this stage and you may in fact not get there at all. You also have to spend a fair amount of money to stay in the MLM every month. Many have to quit just because they can afford to keep spending the amount they must to stay in the MLM. Most don't make the amounts of money "testimonials" say can be had.

Simply put, it's not as easy as it sounds and as so many try, so often, to make it seem. Most people who get into MLMs actually end up more broke than when they started. It is only a few and far between who actually achieve actual wealth in an MLM, even a legitimate one. Most compensation plans pay so little upfront that you won't make money until you've been in for a while.

Whether supportive or not supportive of MLMs, however, everyone agrees (if legitimate) that they simply aren't for everyone. Simply, no matter what you do, MLM or traditional business opportunity, you need to have passion and a drive for your work that goes beyond simple monetary compensation. If financial gain is your only driving force, then you will doubtless fail, because a passion for what you do is what takes you through tough times. You need to believe in what you're doing, be a product or service, or you'll fail in the end.

Do your homework and research any opportunity you come across that looks interesting. Then and only then, after all careful research has been done, should you invest if it's something that looks like you'd be interested in doing and can actually achieve passion about.

Renegade Network Marketer - How To Generate More MLM Prospects Than You Can Handle!

Can network marketing make you rich? Sure it can but on it's own, it's not going to make you anything.

In her hard hitting report, The Renegade Network Marketer, Ann Sieg touched on some pertinent points about why most people fail in MLM after being given the impression it's their secret to fame and fortunes.

What many failed distributors didn't understand was that network marketing is just a vehicle to success. The real secret actually lies in how you market your business. The real truth is - the marketing needs to be put back into the network.

The internet has opened up a grand canyon of opportunity for savvy MLMers who have recognized how powerful a tool it is in generating targeted prospects. Forget the 3 foot rule where your upline teaches you to make a list and invite them to a meeting at your home within 24-48 hours. Yes, this may have worked well in the days when there was no internet but it really is just hit and miss prospecting.

Targeted Prospecting Is The Key

Let's take a look at some of the methods you can use to improve your chances of attracting targeted leads to your MLM business.

- Article Marketing is a powerful way to get visitors to your blog or website. As a tool for attracting prospects in network marketing it's very powerful. The key is writing on different topics related to the industry such as prospecting itself and submitting it to various article directories around the web.

- You need to attract prospects with something of value such as a free report. If you haven't got one either write one yourself or have one ghost written for you.

- Your site should have an opt-in list on it for people to subscribe to. Once they get to your site, your free report is the incentive for them to opt in. You could also invite them to subscribe to your newletter which they'll receive on a regular basis and will be full of useful information.

- Once you have them on your mailing list you need to start training your prospects. How? With information they view as valuable. You'll not only develop a relationship with them but you're also building your own credibility.

- As a Renegade Network Marketer, you need to lead with good, valuable information first instead of hitting them straight up with a sales pitch. It's what's known as pre-selling.

Useful Internet Affiliate Marketing Tips And Thoughts

Affiliate marketing programs offer tremendous opportunities for almost anyone to make extra money on the internet. As an industry it produces billions of dollars worth of sales and then shares some of that with the affiliates.

Here is the key when you first decide to start an Internet affiliate marketing business. Write a plan much like you would opening any new business. If you are not sure what to write put down some goals and then adjust them as you get going and understand it better.

To help you out a little bit here are a few things to keep in mind when you start an affiliate marketing business of your own.

1. Set some goals and write them down. Include a realistic income goal. Do not just write down $100,000 a year as this is not realistic when you first start.

2. Set up somewhere in your home to work and then work when you are in that room. Many people fail with affiliate marketing because they just goof off on the computer and are not really working.

3. What do you know about affiliate marketing? You need skills and that is going to take some education on your part. There are no born great affiliate marketers.

- James Martell offers some excellent training for affiliate marketers.

- Allan Gardyne has the top affiliate marketing forum where you can go ask questions for free.

- Rosalind Gardner wrote a dynamite book on just about everything you need to know to be a successful affiliate marketer.

Here are a couple of facts that you need to know about running an Internet affiliate business of your own.

1. You get paid to sell other people's stuff. One of the benefits of this type of business is you do not need any products of your own. You can earn as high of commission as 75% on digital products and 50% on physical products

2. The affiliate company will collect the money and ship the products. So what do you do? You get traffic to your affiliate website or your own website if you build one. This is going to be the hardest part.

3. You will get paid by check, direct deposit, or PayPal. Every affiliate program runs their pay periods differently. Instant commission programs are great if you can find them.

4. Know your cookies. This is one of those cool internet words that means different than you are used to hearing. Usually, potential customers will just be making some visit and will not make any purchase immediately.

It is important that the merchant's website use cookies to track these customers so that you will be able to get the credit once he returns and buys anything in that site. The longer these tracking cookies last, the higher the chance you will be paid.

5. Look at the marketing materials they are providing. You would like to see some good text ads, banners, html email, offline materials if they have it, and so on. Unless you are good at designing marketing materials the more they give you the faster you can start promoting their products.

6. Look for as many free, or nearly free, ways to advertise as possible. Look around and see what other successful affiliate marketers are doing.

Most affiliate companies will give you ideas as well. There are so many ways to market online that it can get confusing. Do not make the mistake of falling for the sure thing advertising gimmick and losing a bunch of money on it.

This is some good advice on starting out with affiliate marketing. This can be a very lucrative industry for you if you know going in that it is going to take a lot of hard work.

The Law Of Attraction In The Marketplace

I have been studying and applying the success formula's of many of the great masters for many years. In the past year or so, thanks in part to a DVD called "The Secret", there has been a dramatic increase in the public awareness about such principles as Applied Faith, Inspired Action, Deliberate Creation and the Law of Attraction. In fact I have been a student of the law of attraction in the past. However during the past 9 months, I have come to higher level of awareness and understanding of many of these topics.

In particular, I would like to point out the distinction between the principle of "Deliberate Creation" and what is being taught today by modern day guru's as "the law of attraction." Some of the distinctions I am about to make may seem like "semantics" to some of you. I can assure you the distinctions I am about to point out are anything but semantics. Your understanding and application of the principle of deliberate creation can have a profound positive impact in your life as well as countless others. Belief in a so called law of attraction on the other hand can be very dis-empowering. Below you will find a short comparison of the principle of Deliberate Creation and the so called law of attraction.

First, let's start with a few definitions:

Deliberate Creation - "the act of creating done with full consciousness" or "the act of creating done with purpose."

Law of attraction - "you get what you think about" or "like attracts like."

You can already see from the definitions above, there is a significant distinction between Deliberate Creation and the Law of Attraction. First of all Deliberate Creation requires action... the Law of Attraction is passive. Deliberate Creation is born out of awareness and consciousness. The Law of Attraction is whimsical at best. Sadly, many business people who, for the most part are very astute, have taken to "thinking themselves" to success. I have heard complaints from sales managers in some very large organizations that their staff have ceased prospecting and cold calling in lieu of "manifesting" leads. While it is imperative that we be in the proper, positive mindset as we grow our businesses, it doesn't END there. We must TAKE ACTION.

Here's a more detailed comparison between an action oriented principle like Deliberate Creation and the Law of Attraction made popular by "The Secret":

Deliberate Creation

* Based on certainty
* Encourages inspired action
* Evolved from a true law of the universe... James Maxwell's Law of Electromagnetism ( a moving electric charge creates magnetism )
* Based on empowerment ( you are at a minimum the co-creator of your life's experiences )
* Based in Consciousness ( you make clear deliberate choices and demonstrate your faith with actions )
* Requires personal integrity ( being honest with oneself ) and the courage to be fully empowered
* Assigns no blame, just a clear directive on how to realize your full potential

Law of Attraction

* Based on wishing and hoping
* Passive

Designing a Viral Marketing System for your Business

Viral Marketing campaigns refer to the self-perpetuating spread of a brand, product or service. The awareness can be spread by word-of-mouth (slower) or accelerated by the network effects of the internet. A viral marketing campaign encourages people to voluntarily communicate the brand message to a plurality of others. Viral promotions are typically thought of as funny emails, videos, texts or images, however, at a more sustainable level, they are becoming items of high value such as free information products, samples or trial services.

The promise of the internet has always been a price of "free" and online users expect to start a new relationship without paying for it. As an online or offline business owner, you must find a way to initially give a user something of value for free. Studies have shown that satisfied customers tell an average of three other people about products or services they like, and eleven people about a product or service they didn't like. By providing a valuable giveaway, there is a higher likelihood of customer satisfaction and no financial risk in telling others.

The giveaway becomes the cost of building an ongoing a relationship with a user and the opportunity to get a sale. If the initial viral message creates the right motivation, it may exponentially spread to other users who also start a relationship with your brand.

Although there is sometimes a cost to building the viral message components, they should support the consumption of your primary product or service and can be re-purposed in many ways to drive sales.

The design of a viral marketing campaign should cover the life-cycle of the relationship with the future client. This includes the initial viral message, an ethical bribe used to get permission to continue the relationship and converting the prospect into a paying client.

Viral marketing system components:

1. Viral Message: Create a selfish motivation that makes someone want to tell others. The selfish motivation comes from the emotion your viral message, product or service creates. This is the bait that lures someone into a conversation with your business. During this first phase of the relationship, the prospect doesn't trust you and the most a business can hope for is future brand recognition.

2. Ethical Bribe: Provide the visitor a free gift in exchange for an email address. The free gift inspires the prospect to opt-in and give you permission to start a deeper relationship. The ethical bribe can be a free ebook, consumer guide, informative report, tip list, product sample, give a donation to a charity, a contest, newsletter subscription, etc.

3. Conversion: The content you give away as an ethical bribe or in the ongoing email communication should be related to your product or service and written to create trust, build a burning desire for what you are selling and lower the barrier to a sale (make an offer). This is where well written copy can make or break your conversion rate.

Once you acquire a new email address, the biggest mistake you can make is to spam your brand message to a potential client. Depending on the sales cycle of your product or service, more time may be required before the prospect has a problem that you can solve. If you immediately make offers for sale, give an uninterested subscriber the ability to unsubscribe from your list.

A more benign approach to keeping a high-touch relationship is to provide valuable information about your product or service. An example of this is a monthly newsletter. Newsletters can be written in an advertorial style which promotes your business and also provides a benefit to the reader. Outside the body of the newsletter, offers for sale can be made in dedicated ad space.

How to Survive as a Networking Newbie

If you're just starting out in business, you've probably already been told by a number of people that Networking is an essential activity to get involved in. It's a great piece of advice and, even though it might fill you with absolute dread, it will provide a huge number of business contacts. Whilst not all of these will be directly relevant to you and your own business, referrals to third parties happen all the time and this really is the whole point to getting involved in Networking.

Even though I've only recently set up my own business as a Virtual Assistant, it had been in the pipeline for a long time, and one of things I knew I had to face up to was the fact that I'd have to put myself out and about on the Networking circuit. I can tell you that, out of all the hurdles associated with setting up a new business, the Networking hurdle was my most feared. I'm not a natural Sales Person but I am a natural talker - and the more events I've attended, the more I've realised that being able to talk is the only skill you need. Oh yes, and a stack of business cards!

In order to survive as a Networking Newbie, I'd recommend the following tips:

SMILE !!
Even if you're feeling completely overwhelmed, wear a smile. It will attract other people towards you and instantly boost your confidence.

Approach other people standing on their own.
Remember - you're not the only one feeling awkward. They're also more than likely to be as nervous as you are.

Extend a firm handshake.
It gives the impression that you're confident and comfortable in the situation and you definitely mean business.

Always try and ask about your new contact first.
This will demonstrate that you're not a selfish Networker because you're showing that you're more interested in the other person than in talking about yourself.

Be a good listener.
Even if you're talking to someone whose business is of no direct relevance to your own, appreciate that you're all there for the same reason.

Keep your own business statement brief.
Accompany your verbal statement with your business card and direct people to your website for more detailed information. Keeping it brief at the beginning enables others to ask specific questions which you can then answer in as much depth as is required.

Be polite and honest.
You will make a good impression with many new contacts because they remember your friendly personality and honesty, not necessarily what line of business you're in.

Acknowledge the contacts you've made.
Always follow a Networking event by sending a brief two-line email to every contact you've made along the following lines: "nice to meet you, added your details to my database, hope to see you at future events". Nothing more is needed - unless, of course, potential business was discussed at the event with one or more individuals. Then a more personalised message is called for.

So, all in all, it doesn't have to be that scary. By implementing some - if not all - of the above tips, you can actually look forward to attending future events free from anxieties.

So, what are you waiting for? Go on, give it a go!

Helen Byrne is a UK-based Virtual Office Assistant and Owner of Virtualoso (http://www.virtualoso.info). To promote the business to a wider audience, Helen also created PA-as-you-go (http://www.PA-as-you-go.com) as a simple introduction to Virtual Assistance.

Secret to Tapping Into the Holiday Shopping Boom in Your Local Market

During the holiday season, most people are spending and spending and spending even more. They are buying gifts for those they love. Whether it is a gift for a friend, family member, or even an enemy (yes, people do buy gifts for their enemies), huge numbers of people are spending large amounts of money both online and offline to be able to give the perfect gifts.

For those in the Direct Selling Industry (aka network marketing, mlm, etc.), many marketers are making a huge mistake by not tapping into the cash flow stream of the holiday shopping season. What is worse are some marketers are scrambling to try and figure out what new market they can tap into and are inadvertently missing out on the business sales in their own backyard.

During the holiday, or even the weeks leading up to it, is not the time to start thinking about breaking into a new market. Nor is it the time to sit idle and wish or hope for business success. The fact is the holiday shopping season can bring prosperity and joy to anyone in this industry that is willing to take action in putting forth the effort to reach out to their prospects and customers.

In this article, we will share with you, the starting point for marketing your business throughout the holiday season. These are practical tips and advice for tapping into your existing market for the holiday season.

A little known secret you need to know is when you look to your own backyard (your local market), you will discover unlimited possibilities for taking home your share of the holiday shopping boom.

It's the people (your friends, family, relatives, strangers, and even past customers and prospects) in your local market that you already have connections with that will be the most responsive to your recommendations and ideas. So let's take a look at how you can prime the pump for those gift-giving dollars.

TIP - Remember to think outside the gift box.

We don't just make money from gift purchases during the holidays. There are millions of related dollars spent on:

* Food, Food and more Food
* Travel and Entertainment
* Home Holiday Decor (Inside and Out)
* Holiday Cards and Gift Wrap
* Holiday Parties

Think of your unique selling position. What makes you unique and different compared to other marketers and their companies? Look at what niche areas you serve and what products or services you offer.

TIP - Take about 10 minutes and write down as many things you could market. Do not prejudge your thoughts. Make sure you write whatever comes to your mind. Then shorten your list to three products or services you can focus on.

One question I get asked quite often by marketers is, "Who will I market to?" Unfortunately, the possibilities are unlimited. The problem with unlimited possibilities is the fact most marketers get tripped up and become overwhelmed when they are faced with too many possibilities to choose from. This causes them to become blind to the true potential. The result is they end up doing nothing!

The secret strategy to unlock this potential for you is consistent action. Not just any action, but the action that puts you in front of the people most likely to buy. The fact is people are spending money and they will either spend it in your store or at the store of someone else. So you have a decision to make and if you truly want to tap into this holiday shopping boom, you know what that decision will be.

Since the foundational key to sales for every business (both online and offline) is in having a strong list of prospects and customers, you must begin examining your list in-depth to identify possible goldmine spots within your list for holiday sales. Look at who your customers are, how many people are on your list, as well as what the most common theme of wants and needs have been expressed by those on your list.

The fact is if you have been taking action in your business throughout the year, you have a growing list. I am sure you realize there is both good and bad on this list. The good are your repeat customers. This is where you want to focus your marketing effort.

TIP - Santa puts a priority focus on the list. Shouldn't you?

Now is the time to begin capitalizing on the biggest ecommerce season of the year. Yes, even if you are building your business locally, you should be capitalizing on ecommerce. Will you be able to put your list to work for you and take advantage of holiday shopping dollars? To accomplish such a task, think strategically.

If you are like me in the marketplace, you have spent months and thousands of hours and dollars to build up your list. And the drips of information you have poured on your prospects and customers are probably a far cry from holiday shopping. The key ingredient to capitalizing and earning some phenomenal commissions on holiday gifts will depend a great deal on the relationship you have established and built with your prospects and customers.

TIP - Even if your list is primarily cold, it is never too late to start warming up your list.

Hopefully you have been following up consistently and not fouling up. Follow up throughout the year allows you to connect with your prospect. Not just on a business level but also on a personal level.

The fact is the Direct Selling Industry is built heavily on relationships. You are representing your company for one main reason, which is to establish and nurture relationships with your prospects. It pays to get to know your customers and let your customers catch a glimpse of the human behind the business.

TIP - Make sure you focus on establishing and nurturing relationships with your prospects and customers consistently throughout the year, not just during the holiday.

You don't have to go overboard and share the emotional roller coaster of your life with everyone, but you do need to share occasional stories from your home life. A family vacation photo, a short story about how quickly your daughter learned to ride her new bike or how Impatient, the family dog, taught you a lesson in patience; these are all great little bites of life that will help your prospects and customers feel like they are getting to know you.

The secret to tapping into the holiday shopping boom is in your list. You must nurture this list and that begins now. Even if you have a small cold list, you can begin today to grow and nurture that list so next holiday season you break your company sales records. Make a commitment and make it happen.

How To Become A Renegade Network Marketer And Succeed In MLM

The resistance by the MLM community to incorporate internet marketing into their business prospecting arsenal has been a little hard to understand.

Ann Sieg ruffled many feathers with her two reports about the 7 great lies of network marketing and the Renegade Network Marketer. Old school methods still being taught to new distributors today is paramount to lunacy.

One of the secrets to attracting prospects into your business is by using the art of pre-selling. Incorporating the wide reach of the internet, not only can you prospect those within a "stone's throw" of where you live but also people from all over the world.

How To Warm Up A Prospect

Pre-selling is about warming up your prospect in such a way that by the time they are ready to hear your main sales pitch it doesn't really matter what you say, they are ready to join your business. In other words, they have been pre-sold on what they've seen and heard in the time leading up to the main pitch.

The art of pre-selling has worked well for those who have tried it in the offline network marketing world. For example, a campaign may start with a free report about wealth building followed up by further tidbits of valuable information in which a prospect can absorb and use.

Your ultimate aim offline was to get them to that initial meeting and pre-selling worked very effectively. But what a difference being able to utilize the vast resources of the online world. Once a prospect opts into your mailing list you can then go to work training them. Some might argue why train them if they're not in your business? Wrong attitude.

Training Your Prospect

From the moment they make contact with you the training begins. You feed them information they can utilize. They begin to see you as someone who knows what they're talking about and before too long, in most cases, they will be receptive to your offer.

Offline prospecting tactics are still useful but if you truly want to ramp up your efforts, then consider using the power of online marketing. Those network marketing meetings where you take your prospects to watch a presentation and hear a pitch from your upline may be a thing of the past.

Becoming a Renegade Network Marketer and dismissing most of the old, archaic methods of prospecting is something one needs to consider if they want to make inroads in the MLM business.

Your Way To Online Success In Network Marketing

Online network marketing is facilitated by social network groups, forums loops and discussion boards. Some of these sites are completely open to the public where they are found easily with a quick search and anyone may click to enter and read what is going on whether or not they choose to contribute. Some of these sites will necessitate active participation. These online forums and groups are a completely different thing to actual paid membership sites.

Some groups and boards are really quite busy while others show little or no activity. Some of these sites are absolutely business only, real social interactivity is off limits, others will encourage it. There is a message board or forum on the internet for any subject possible from health and related physical or mental health fields, business opportunities, entrepreneur hints and tips for work from home mothers, internet programmers, eBay, finances and financial services writers, artists, animal lovers, there are only a small few examples of the subjects available on the wonderful medium called the world wide web.

Just a word of caution should be extended here, if you intent to visit forums, message boards and groups on the internet you must practice some time management skills and restraint. It's a big place out there and one can be lost no end just looking around. The saying of "time fly's..." certainly rings to true when the world of the internet is involved. Sure there is a wealth of opportunity out there, but what of the sad waste in loss of productivity.

From a business point of view there are a couple of very important things you must consider before jumping in to join a loop. It is naturally great to get involved with another bunch of people with like minds. If you are a web designer it is certainly recommended that you should seek out other web designer to spend your time with. Peer support has an amazing ability to keep you right on top where you should be. If you are still in training it is an excellent experience to sit and learn from those who have honestly been where you are and can share the real secrets of their success.

Do be cautious here also, it is far too easy to lose time just hanging out and having fun, forgetting the reason you are there in the first place. You are really not marketing yourself to the right people if the only ones you have contact with are accomplished designers themselves.

The conclusion is balance, the key to successful internet social networking is balance, take the time to visit other groups and check out the boards, maybe someone there is looking for a service involving a skill you have just learnt. Get out and stretch your legs from time to time. Visit boards where your intended market is likely to be.

Do take the time to introduce yourself, and please do not spam the boards. This will not get you any business and nine out of 10 times will get you banned. Take care with your posts and be sure they are completely relevant and friendly, certainly acknowledge the original poster or OP by posting ID . Another important tip, do go back and follow up on your posts, posting and running is as bad as spamming, go back and look to see if the conversation you entered is still active from time to time. Be friendly, but professional, again this is where balance is the key to successful forum posting. Very often word from mouth will spread through the forums and you might just find your ID recommended as a contact from someone else.

There are so many sites its difficult to recommend a starting point, MySpace for example is not for naughty teenagers after all , Yahoo also have Yahoo 360, and Yahoo questions where your help will be both welcome and productive for you. Do check out MSN groups, Face book, and any other social or business network site that has a group with your interest.

Network marketing and social networking are not so different after all.

Passive Income Business 101

With the birth of Web 2.0, you don't need to leave your seat to find a dozen online advertisements that claim you can earn passive income by establishing an internet marketing business. The formula sounds simple: Find a niche, drive traffic, push, pull and dangle an electronic product for purchase. Instant gratification and a quick buck, right? What most internet marketers don't tell you is how many things they have to throw against the wall to get one to stick. I have personally tried internet marketing in product categories that would be considered extensions of my primary business and bombed miserably. Where one formula worked, another failed.

Despite some of the misleading advertisements, virtual businesses do have their obvious pluses. With very little sweat equity and maybe a few hundred dollars in start-up capital, one can start a relatively low-maintenance business. Testing the business is cheap and you can fail fast rather than grinding it out in an offline business that has brick and mortar overhead and inventory issues. Thinking of starting an offline business? Start it online first.

Social networking sites have made getting your message out to like-minded people faster and cheaper than ever before. MySpace and Squidoo are two popular sites that can be set-up as communication and traffic funnels to primary business sites. If you are able to drive significant traffic through search engine optimization, blogging, viral marketing or article marketing, the opportunity to sell Google Adsense or other pay-per-click systems becomes possible.

There are differing philosophies among online business owners concerning the right business model. I have found successful business owners that swear you need to make $300 per month across 200 sites and others that believe you need to find a long-term sustainable category and make $60,000 with one site. Finding the latter can be a short quest or a long process of trial and error.

To help short-circuit the path to success there are approaches that can minimize the number of failures and help you make your first dollar:

1) If you have a primary business, identify a niche that has synergy with your current expertise or marketing efforts. These sometimes reside on the front or back-end of your primary business' supply chain. Example: A bike shop owner could market and sell an ebook on the best bike paths in the United States. It is much easier and more enjoyable to turn a current passion into your first passive income business. Also, the passive business may help drive sales of your primary business if there are synergies.

2) Do you have an existing list of clients that trust you and have a common interest? Someone you have already made a sale to is more likely to buy from you again if they had a good experience. Also, the cost and time required to reach these past clients is also low. So finding a product in common with their interests could help accelerate and test your new ideas. Reach out to your contact list via email marketing or send them a mailer and drive them to your new website.

3) Follow macro-level trends in the economy and social issues. Currently the US is surviving a huge credit crunch and homeowners need high credit scores more now than ever. If you can market a solution to a desperate group of people, there will be opportunity.

4) Markets work in cycles and with any popular category or trend, there is going to be excessive competition. Finding the silent giants in hated categories will allow you to enter and establish your business for scalability before the category explodes. A current example is timber and lumber, a hated business by both owners and investors. However, the lumber market is set to go on a shortage that will drive prices through the roof and force most home builders to use alternatives. If you developed an information website that provides resources for lumber alternatives, it will surely get a lot of attention when builders get desperate.

Building a passive business can sometimes take periods of aggressive action. I don't know many entrepreneurs that haven't struggled or poured their heart into their work. Luck is sometimes part of the equation but more important is timing and speed. Timing your thrust can mean a growing success or slow death. Speed also plays a factor in penetrating a category quickly and establishing an authority position.

The reality is, most passive businesses are really what I call "light-load" businesses. You can design the business for automation, however, there is always a start-up cycle that is energy and capital intensive. Also, the market is going to change and your business will need to stay competitive. Scaling the business usually requires attention and, if wildly successful, may require outsourcing or staffing. Outsourcing is the best way to keep a business "light-load". The goal is to ultimately replace the income of your primary business. Outsourcing administrative or repetitive tasks allows you to focus more on strategic aspects of the new business and continue growing or developing new revenue streams.

Here are some tips to starting your first passive income business:

1) To get started and blow through the learning curve, select a virtual product that doesn't have any inventory, manufacturing time or logistics.

2) The product should be between $50-200 so the sales cycle is short and clients don't ask as many questions before buying.

3) Select a niche you have related experience in. It's important to be confident in what you are saying because everything else will be completely foreign.

4) Research what people are searching for online and utilize Google Adwords to piggyback on existing traffic sites. Use print ads offline in niche magazines that have readerships less than 15,000 people.

5) Split test advertising online and offline. It's important to determine the marketing message that consumers respond to.

6) Fail fast and cheap. Set a budget and ditch the losers before they suck you dry.

7) Keep your day job. Don't quit your primary business until your passive income business can replace your primary income.

The Do's And Don'ts Of Network Marketing

Certainly you became interested and joined network marketing for the money. This is the bait that attracts us here. But this is not the only attraction. It is not human to subject ourselves to so much hard work building a business only for pieces of paper with pretty pictures of dead presidents. Really you are working for your money to get to the things that this money will bring you.

The first thing you really must do is to discover the real motivation that bought you to become a network marketer. Perhaps it was the freedom to decide for yourself what you want to be doing and when. Perhaps it was a lifestyle change that attracted you to network marketing. The one thing that is crucial to your success in network marketing is knowing your motivation.

Network marketing is a coaching and teaching business. If you do not interact well with other people it is not likely that you are in a business that is right for you. Many network marketers fail to realize that they are not sponsoring faceless reps, you are in fact sponsoring real people.

If perhaps you are unable to find a reason behind your motivation in network marketing then it doesn't particularly stand to reason that other people must be doing the same thing. So why do network marketers seemingly habitually focus on the financial rewards?

It is impossible to inspire Joe Blow get up off his backside and do something if you cannot discover what motivates him. Therefore most marketers will harp on the financial rewards that Joe Blow might earn. They will send him message after message about successful sue who was able to buy herself her dreams and encourage Joe with the knowledge that he can do the same.

The truth is that Joe is fool, so how realistic is this approach. Joe does work long hard hours at his day job, and he's a provider for his family. In his heart Joe feels that working hard and saving anything he can by going without those little extras will one day afford him a casual family holiday. So here you are promising Joe the world and telling him he could be just like Sue if he would listen to you, and sign that paper, You would take care of him as his sponsor.

Typically there will be many people who you will need to sign up just this same way. But if you are looking for real success in your network marketing business, you really need to change this approach. Stop being in such a rush, and take the time to listen.

Don't jump on Joe with all the latest network marketing philosophy. Take the time to find out what it is that Joe wants. How about asking Joe what he wants in life. Get to know Joe; don't even discuss business at your first meeting with him. Discover a friend in Joe, and let him discover you.

Follow this simple more humane plan and feel better with your results and Joe will come willingly to do the same for you, your business will do much better.

How to Make Money in Network Marketing When Your Product Doesn't Sell

You're excited-you've just signed up to be a distributor for Xyz Company. You're going to be selling the hottest selling product known to mankind-at least that is what your sponsor told you. Then reality hits you like a stink bomb. How in the heck are you going to sell these products?

This is the panic that probably went through your mind right after you signed up in your company. What you probably didn't know then, was that being a distributor is going to take some business know how and a lot of marketing skills. This herein lies the problem. You, like most new people, may not have either. This leaves people like you with a garage full of products you couldn't even give away. That too takes some marketing skill.

Network marketing basically comes down to how fast you can move product. Without the proper skill set, it's going to be very challenging. Some people like to point the finger at the product or even the company as the reason they can't sell the product.

But if that was the case, then there wouldn't be any "heavy-hitters" in your company making money. Either they have mastered the art of marketing, or they're a "natural" at selling lots of products or have a bigger rolodex than you. You must have one of the three or your business could be heading for trouble, if it isn't already.

This leaves you in a dilemma. You either learn how to market your product or you go and try to recruit others to help you. Some go for the latter and find that it's difficult to recruit enough people into the business to make an impact in their bank account. This may your story too.

It's like you're stuck between two rocks...and neither of them is budging. The only way to make any headway is to saddle down and learn how to market; but not just market your products. You see, when you bring other people into your business, which you undoubtedly will sooner or later, they will have the same problems you had-not knowing how to market.

They will go through the very same dilemmas you went through and it will either break them or make them. More often than not, it does the latter. They will just quit your business because they couldn't figure it out fast enough to make a profit.

All your time, money and energy spent getting prospects for your business will be for not, if you recruit those who are not experienced enough to run a business. And for the most part, that will be the majority of people you bring into your business.

This is why you not only have to learn how to market your company's products, but also learn how to market training tools and systems to help educate your potential prospects before you get them into your business.

If you're marketing training tools, you can use the profits from that to fund your business thereby reducing your marketing expenses; it's even advantageous to lead with the training rather than your opportunity, so your potential prospects can be educated enough on how to run a business before they join yours. In this respect, your leads are paying for themselves.

If someone is willing to invest in getting training from you, they are a much better prospect to have in your business; once someone buys from you, they are more than likely to buy again. By educating your prospects, it builds trust in you and your opportunity, which you can ease them into after you've built enough trust with them.

Making money by selling your company's products can be a difficult road to take, but it can be done if you have the right marketing skills. It's more to your advantage to sell training that will help your prospects first before you try to put them into your business.

Not only will it help reduce your marketing expenses, but it puts your prospect in a better position to make money in your opportunity, which then reduces the chances of them quitting on you. This is the easiest way to make money in network marketing when you can't sell your products.

Corporate Hospitality - Better Than Gangster Bloodshed

Hollywood has taught us that it pays to look after your business associates. In the Hollywood film Scarface we are taught some key business lessons. The first rule, we are told, is that you must never underestimate the other man's greed. Further to this Tony Montana, played by Al Pacino, taught us how to negotiate a sale. He always has a mate out back with a shotgun. In The Godfather films we learn a great deal more about successful business techniques. Don Corleone famously makes a business associate 'an offer he can't refuse'.

The menace in his voice tells us that the business associate will be killed if he doesn't comply with the Don's wishes. Now this is how it is done in Hollywood but fortunately for the modern business man there are simpler, less bloody and much more enjoyable ways of conducting business.

Corporate hospitality events are based solely around making sure you and your delegates enjoy themselves. Second only to gangster threats they are the most effective way of getting that business deal signed and sealed. So what are the alternatives if you don't want to leave horses head in the bed of your business associate or make threats on their life and the lives of their family members? Here is an introduction to a few of the less violent pastimes that will help you achieve the same result - a successful business deal.

Golf Days

Golf days can be a great way of relaxing with your business associates without having to rush business decisions. They typically include breakfast, a lesson with a pro golfer; lunch a full 18 holes, evening meal and an awards ceremony with prizes. For those that share a passion for watching golf but not necessarily playing it attending a big golf tournament as a spectator is a great way to enjoy the game and experience the buzz of seeing top sportsmen and women compete at the highest level of their profession. The British open championship takes place in summer every year and moves between the top golf courses in the country. July 2008 will see it staged at the Royal Birkdale in Merseyside.

Horse racing

Horse racing provides a fantastic day out for you and your delegates. The 'sport of kings' is guaranteed to provide an incredible day of excitement regardless of whether you and your delegates are new to horse racing or seasoned professional gambler. The prestige of the big race meetings such as, The National Hunt Festival at Cheltenham, The Grand National at Aintree and the Royal Ascot at Ascot will combine a great day out with high end luxury. It is a perfect way to entertain your business delegates.

Cricket

For the non-cricketer the idea of attending a cricket game as part of your business relationship might not be the first thing to come to mind but it is well worth considering. The experience of attending a cricket match is like no other. Floodlit matches and Twenty20 matches are bringing excitement to the game that has long been criticised for being slow.

Corporate entertainment at cricket grounds is second to none and will provide you and your delegates with fantastic food and beverages throughout the day. The 2008 cricket calendar sees England play New Zealand and South Africa. Between May and August these games will feature all across the country in the major cricket venues such as Lords, Old Trafford, Trent Bridge, Headingly and Edgbaston.

You Are The Key To Network Marketing Success

As with any other business the success of your network marketing business relies on a system that most importantly must be followed.

With so many different systems and claimed successful techniques available to try it is far too easy to believe that if you are not succeeding fast enough you should just try another one without even trying to change the things you are already doing to make your system work for you. This is a huge mistake. You must find a system and stick to it. Perhaps latter on when you are secure and stable then you might entertain the idea of trying something new, but even then this is bound to impact negatively on your progress.

Success starts in your mind and from there your network marketing potential begins to grow. Possibly above all other business network marketing absolutely requires a positive mind set. If you forget everything else, this one point must be remembered. Believe that your business will grow to make it grow. If you have any doubts at you are effectively putting the lid on your potential. This will be amplified among your business associates.

This is in fact the reasoning behind the traditional brain storming, opportunity meetings and sizzle sessions within network marketing companies. Motivation builds motivation and spreads, individuals share knowledge and inspiration. If like many today your company is internet based these meetings are replaced with chat forums, conference calls and the likes.

These meets are used for discussing product information and recommended successful promotional techniques, but the most important reward is the sharing of motivation and inspiration, the key is also given in these meetings, a positive attitude.

A professional network marketing company will supply you with inspirations media such as books and tapes. Some might even tell you that you are not suitable to be working with unless you read particular materials. A big dose of positive, inspirational and motivational material will build your self esteem while it is building your business; from there you will certainly influence others.

Your mind is an awesome network marketing took when filled with positive attitude, but a deadly stopper if it is not set to the right focus, a negative attitude will stop you and your potential network marketing success short. A negative mind cannot possibly influence others to success. Communication within the system, with your uplines and your team. You can deliver all the pamphlets and posters you like but if you cannot connect with others you might as well lay down now.

If you work hard on your attitude and strive towards only positive thoughts your business will reward you justly with reflection of positive growth. It certainly is all in the mind.

What Company? Which Product? Lotion, Potions & Pills? I think Not

Why not, I here you ask? They seem like great companies with great products and their comp plan looks good too.

They have big corporate offices and have been around for years. Isn't that good? Any company out there that sells products like lotions, potions, pills, miracle juices or miracle gas saving products usually don't work for the average person for many reasons.

Those companies usually make most of their money from you, the distributor, not from selling the products. They have you on auto ship, so you are their income.
They only pay about 2% to 15% so many levels deep. They will tell you that when you fill the matrix, you won't have to do anything and you'll be making 20 to 40k a month.

The truth is, there are so many loop holes to their comp plans that no body ever reaches those levels. You'll either have too many people on your left, but not enough on your right side to make the higher level payouts.

They tell you that you need more personal volume and your group volume is fine or vice versa, or my favorite, you had fallout this month, so you no longer qualify for that car bonus we promised you about.

They make you hold home parties to push your crap on your friends. Listen, If I wanted weight loss, I would go to GNC. If I wanted Lotions, I would go to CVS, Save on, Nordstrom or Bullocks. If I wanted to put additives in my gas tank, I would go to Kragen, Chief or Pep Boys and buy a product from STP or Penzoil. You get what I mean ...?

They are a copy cat company of the original company. How many companies out there are selling a juice that is based from the Acai Berry, Goji berry or the Mangosteen fruit? How many of those promise to cure cancer?

What a joke? Lets be honest for one minute, if these juice drinks cured a major desease, any decease, they would be on the front page of every paper across the globe, there press release would be translated in to every imaginable language and they would be featured on every major TV & radio news broadcast in the world!

Is our society that ignorant that if something actually cured cancer, wouldnt we want to check it out? How many travel companies are there now? How many fuel additives are there now? How many of those have been shut down? How many make up, skin lotions and vitamin companies are there out there?

It just seems like there are so many junk companies on the internet, how do you know what is good and what is not? Some of these companies/products mentioned above actually have a good product, but I would never go in business with them. For one big reason, these types of companies just wont give you a chance to make real money.

They will tell you differently, so use your brain and some common sense and you will evaluate them better.

Basics of Web Site Promotion

Your website will be your main promotion tool. You will use this as one of your lead generation tools. This form of marketing is a very powerful and cost effective way to promote your business and gain targeted responsive leads for your opportunity, service or product.

Web form: customize your web form or subscription box for your publication, so that you can qualify leads. Do not only collect email addresses and names, try to include a couple of questions. For example how much would you spend on an opportunity? What aspect of business interests you? What would you like to learn from the newsletter? In this way you can make a more targeted publication and get to know your subscribers needs better.

Special squeeze page (landing page.) These pages are special pages that are designed to give more information and persuade your prospect to join your opportunity or newsletter. They are very useful as tracking pages to see how many people are converting to sales from your direct marketing.

Driving traffic to your web page. There are several ways to do this:

Search engine submission
Linking to related websites
Pay-Per-Click and Google Awards
Articles Distribution
Social marketing-Myspace, forums and blogging.
Viral marketing with free gifts
You will need to optimize your website by putting in a title tag and description tag. Then you will need to optimize your content. When you have done this, submit your site to the three major search engines MSN, Google and Yahoo. It will take about 4-6 weeks for your site to be included in the search engines. But it can take 6 months to see significant amounts of web traffic.

You can build up traffic by linking to quality related sites, and encourage others to link to you by filling your website with good content and resources. This will build up targeted traffic to your site.

Google Awards will bring you plenty of good-targeted traffic within a day of setting up your campaign. A word of caution is to be careful how you bid, as this can get very expensive if you are not careful. Try to read all the very good tutorials that Google provides.

Distributing articles is a very powerful way to promote your business. You can do this manually, this is very time consuming, use software or use a service. These last 2 options will save you a lot of time and money.

Social marketing: you are not allowed to post ads, unless it is in a designated area, but you can post questions and answers, with your little email signature and link to your website. There are many ways to promote your website and you will probably think of more as your enterprise grows.

I am asked all the time: How do you know if a referral is a good referral versus it being a bad referral? The answer is quite simple: From the involvement (or lack thereof) from the referral source.

What do I mean when it comes to referral marketing?

I always advocate that a person should earn referrals by way of personal (in-person or telephone) introductions. Never ask for (nor accept) a person's name or telephone number just because someone gave it to you. Now I need to say this: A person may feel as though they are genuinely referring you to another simply by giving you the name of a person. But they really aren't helping you. All they are doing is providing you a name and phone number, and in most instances, cursory conversations about you.

This type of referral (or introduction) is missing some very important elements. Let me explain further.

Here's a scenario that has happened to us all: A close colleague sees you in person and hands you a business card from someone they met during lunch this weeks. Your colleague tells you that you should contact the person because they may be interested in working with you.

How do you handle this situation? Take the business card? Pick up the telephone??

Obviously you don't want to be rude. But this form of "referral" is what I would call a cold-introduction. Before taking any action on your part, you are much better thanking your colleague for mentioning your name and then replying to them, as follows:

"That's great to hear Sue. Glad your lunch went well. But would you mind doing me a favor? Would you contacting her again and let her know I'll be calling?

Or you could ask, "Would you mind contacting her again to see if the three of us could have lunch together?"

The key concept here is that personal introductions will always trump cold introductions, especially in the game of referrals. You should strive for this level of commitment from others who recommend you to prospects. After all, they are endorsing you by recommending you to others.

That's not an attitude of being conceited. It's just being downright respectful to the other person's time.

Or you could even say something like:

"Sue, again, I appreciate you mentioning my name. Have you told her to expect my phone call? Would you be willing to call her again tomorrow and mention that we both talked, and that I'll be calling soon? Would you please do that for me??"

Notice how you are enlisting the referral source's help in warmly introducing you to the other person, even after their preliminary discussions about you.

Action Step: Train your colleagues, clients and prospects that you want their personal introductions of you to others. Always attempt to enlist their help in introducing you handing you a name and telephone number.

------------------ ARTICLE START ------------------

Scientists, psychologists and economists are working together these days to study and promote a new economic theory called "Neuroeconomics." Neuroeconomics combines neuroscience, economics and psychology to study how we make financial choices. It looks at the role of the brain when we evaluate decisions, categorize risks and rewards and interact with each other.

Britney Spears is a prime candidate for the study of neuroeconomics. After all, wouldn't you like to know what is going on "in her brain" as she is making the decision to put her children at risk, her career at risk and her life at risk? It's easy for us to sit back and say, "I would never do that. If I had what Britney has, I would be set for life."

The Neuroeconomists are discovering something different however. They are discovering how our brain acts independently at times. How our brains can make seemingly "irrational" choices as compared to the risks or rewards before us. And how our brains produce certain chemicals when we are emotional or traumatized that creates a false sense of risk or lack thereof.

The current state of the US economy is a reflection of what neuroscientists and neuroeconomists are discovering. Right now people are asking, "Who in their right mind would have bought a house in the past 3 years when property values were skyrocketing and then finance that home purchase with a negative amortization loan"? Well, hundreds of thousands of people made that decision and science is showing why...

From "Addiction and Cue-Triggered Decision Processes"
By B. DOUGLAS BERNHEIM AND ANTONIO RANGEL

"Research indicates that addictive substances systematically interfere with the proper operation of an important process which the brain uses to forecast near-term hedonic rewards (pleasure), and this leads to strong, misguided, cue-triggered impulses that often defeat higher cognitive control. As a matter of formal mathematics, our model is tractable and involves a small departure from the standard framework. It generates a plausible mapping from the characteristics of the user, substance, and environment to dynamic behavior. It accounts for a number of important patterns associated with addiction, gives rise to a clear welfare standard, and has novel implications for public policy."

"It is natural to wonder whether the model applies not just to addictive substances, but also to other problematic behaviors such as overeating or compulsive shopping. These questions are currently the subject of study among neuro-scientists and psychologists... Notably, people who suffer from pathological gambling, overeating, compulsive shopping, and kleptomania describe their experience as involving strong and often overwhelming cravings, they respond to cues such as stress and advertisements, and they exhibit cycles of binges and abstention."

Our economic choices are not predominantly rational, they are emotional. That's why we have swings in markets, almost as if collectively as a society we are manic depressive; sky high one day and down in the dumps the next.

So give Britney a break. Believe it or not she is making the same choices millions of other people would be making in the same situation. Her brain isn't functioning rationally because she lives in an irrational world. Money pouring in (and out), paparazzi everywhere, pressure from her parents and managers, criticism from the public, the loss of her marriage.

How would you be "acting" in those circumstances? Are you sure?

From Welfare To Wealth.
That's a transition John Alexandrov made and he's sharing the secrets of how he did it everyday. His website was created to help you learn how to achieve financial and personal success just as he has. You can start learning today at http://www.themoneychi.com.

Having an Internet home business of your own is a fantastic thing when it is making money. The ability to stay at home and be you own boss brings with it some responsibility as well. To become an achievement oriented business you need to set meaningful goals and then work at achieving them. This is an article to help you do that.

I would like to help you set goals that can bring you to act in a quick manner. Setting a goal of being a millionaire is an admirable goal, but it is also a long term goal. By reading and believing what you read you may very well someday become one. But this is not an action goal.

An example of an action goal for an Internet home business would be create 3 blog articles this week. Another might be to spend 30 minutes everyday in an internet marketing discussion forum.

Your goals will change as your business changes. You might start out with a goal of having 200 visitors per day to your website. To do that you will write and submit 8 articles a month using a submission service such as Submit Your Article.

By having this kind of a goal you know that you must write 2 good quality articles per week. Over time this can bring you traffic to help you hit your goal of 200 visitors per day. Then you increase your goal to 400 visitors per day and repeat the process.

Immediate goals are things that you want to do now. These could be daily or weekly goals. Maybe your goal is to add one new website per week to your Internet home business. Now you know that to hit that goal you will need to research a topic, choose a theme, buy a domain name, arrange for hosting, choose 20 unique keywords and build 4 or 5 websites per month.

If you are part time this may not be a reasonable goal and you would need to change that to add one new website per month. The point is to set goals that are realistic based on the time and money available to you to hit them.

Here is an outline you can follow for goal setting for you Internet home business:

Long term goals - Where do you see yourself and your business 5 years from now.

Intermediate Goals - Where do you see your business 1 year from now.

Short term goals - What are your goals for the next year.

Weekly - What will you accomplish this week.

Daily goals - What are you going to do today.

Set your daily goals the night before so you know what you are going to do that day. Sunday night set some weekly goals for what you should be doing to work towards your short term goals.

Once a year do an inventory of where your business is and what you want to accomplish in the next year. At this time track how you are coming towards hitting your long term goals.

Another important thing is to set some goals outside of your business. This means goals in various areas of your life such as spiritual, family, exercise, recreation and so on. Your Internet home business will actually suffer if you spend so much time on it that you neglect other areas of your life.

Part of being a success is being a well rounded individual. Internet marketing gurus who tell you that you have to work harder may not be giving you the big picture. You certainly do have to work to have a successful internet business. But all work and no play does really make Jack a dull boy.

Meaningful goals are written down and read. Action goals are important to keep you working all of the time towards hitting all of your goals. Hopefully these Internet home business goal tips will help you to improve your business in the future.

Network marketing, MLM network building and any other business concept that relies heavily on the power of a product and the skill of a distributor is usually advertised a business opportunity. Those researching such business opportunities will be bombarded by ads for e-books, how to articles and information materials sent to them by the purveyors of the business opportunities themselves.

Even as much of that information is valuable, useful and will help the individual to consider carefully if such an opportunity is for them, there are three absurd facts told about marketing, MLM network building and other businesses that require selling and recruiting as part of their business model makeup. Sadly, falling for these alleged facts leads to an astronomic failure rate for fledgling marketers who may have entered the venture with much enthusiasm and also a bit of money to make a go of it.

Absurd truth number one: You can get a great business started by involving friends and family. The myth that your friends and family members will beat a path to your door just because you are now selling nutritional supplements or a legal protection plan is ridiculous, while some may express interest and may even purchase a little something to encourage you, the notion that you will have ample fodder for a down line or customer base is vastly overstated by those trying to sell you the business.

Instead, your friends and family will most likely politely listen but just as politely tell you no. Multi level marketing is especially hard to sell to friends and family members who probably have already heard it from someone else and do not want to get involved with yet another one and if this is your second, fifth or tenth foray into the business with a different scheme or product, your chances of getting even one to sign up as a client or down line candidate is virtually nil.

Absurd fact number two: You can make money while you sleep. Unless you are at the top of a large down line consisting of high powered network marketers, the odds are good that you will not make money while you sleep. Instead, you will need to get out and commit several hours per day or week to work exclusively on your business marketing, MLM network, or other marketing effort.

Absurd fact number three: Network marketing, MLM network building, and product presentations are so easy that everyone can do them. This is absolutely false. While it is true that each and every person most likely has the ability to parrot back a memorized script, it is only a select group of individuals that have the temperamental knack for being a sales person.

You know the salesman or woman who tries too hard and is a pest yet you also know the guy or gal who can strike up a conversation with everyone, is jovial, believable, and will come across as having your best interest at heart while making the sale. The latter is the born sales person who will do great with this kind of business opportunity while the former is the one who will try earnestly, have some marginal success but in the end will not be able to replicate the success of the naturally talented sellers.

Opportunities to generate postive word-of-mouth referrals about you and your business are everywhere. Included, are times of the year where you can use word-of-mouth about you and your services to influence your business positively. Referral marketing and generating more referrals begins to take shape when you incorporate new ideas as a means of serving your clients, and also a method to generate referrals.

Here are five great events to plan (any time of the year), that can help you with your referral marketing efforts and help you generate more lasting impressions that translate into referrals.

1. Las Vegas Casino Night
Having a holiday Vegas Casino night is a fun, exciting way to thank your clients and employees at the end of the year. You can rent a luxury hall and hire a casino company to come set up games such as roulette, poker, blackjack and money wheels. It is always best to do this as a fund-raising event, with the proceeds going to a local charity. Serve a world class buffet and drinks, and your holiday party is sure to be the talk of the town for weeks.

2. Indoor Sports Holiday Party
Invite your clients and employees to an indoor sports holiday party where they can wear comfortable clothes and really relax. Have a miniature indoor three-hole golf course set up, a golf simulator, a pool table, an air hockey table and electronic darts where everyone can get to know each other and have a great, informal time. Play holiday music, serve comfort foods such as meatballs and submarine sandwiches and an assortment of drinks. Many a local sports complex in your area-or even your 'higher-end' bowling alley-can accommodate this.

3. Holiday Boat Cruise
Rent a yacht for the afternoon or evening and invite all your clients aboard for the elegant time of their life. Have the yacht take a scenic cruise of the local area so you clients can enjoy a pleasurable neighborhood boat ride. Serve a gourmet buffet that includes seafood along with top shelf liquor and champagne. Include nautical holiday decorations throughout the yacht and have a low-key band with dancing for the ultimate water excursion your clients are sure to remember.

4. Holiday Marathon
Give your clients a run for their money at the holidays - literally. Have a walk or run for charity and offer to sponsor each of your clients and base the length of your event on the fitness level of the majority attending. Offer holiday themed prizes for all the runners. Have the walk or run end at an eclectic restaurant where everyone can remain casual and dine on healthy foods, exotic bottled water and light spirits with holiday decorations and music in the background. You will not only show appreciation for your clients but donate to a worthy cause during the holiday season. Here is a list to find marathons in your area.

5. Holiday Wine Tasting
Local vineyards and liquor stores are happy to assist you with selecting a variety of fine vintages to serve for a holiday wine tasting party. Serve top shelf red, white and rose wine as well as different champagnes for your clients to sample with a professional wine representative. Include grapes, imported cheese and crackers during the sampling. After the wine tasting, serve steaks, fish and pasta for dinner. End the evening with dessert wine and an irresistible cart of sweet treats that leave everyone talking about your party for weeks.

Ok, so you got yourself some MLM leads.

I'm gonna take a wild stab and assume these are supposed to be some type of business opportunity-seeking MLM leads, right? (These are some of the most common out there.)

You probably paid several dollars per lead. Some of you may have even opted for the more expensive 'opt-in' or even the super-expensive 'double opt-in, phone verified' opportunity-seeking MLM leads, with extra whip cream, sprinkles and a cherry on top.

You started dialing with anticipation and excitement...knowing you were only a mere phone number away from sponsoring that next serious business builder who was going to take you to new heights in the Network Marketing arena.

And, so, you dialed... and you dialed... and you dialed...

After about 50 or so people hanging up on you, telling you they weren't interested, or asking how you got their number and to stop calling and take them off your list, you decided, "Wow, these leads stink! I gotta find some better leads."

I get emails all the time from people asking where to find good MLM leads.

I'm going to reveal the biggest and best-kept secret on all leads. Are you ready?

ALL leads stink!

In other words, there is no "magic" MLM lead that you are going to call up and have people suddenly dying to jump into your MLM business, I don't care what the person who sold you the leads told you. (They're on commission.) Honestly, some of these people who sell leads are trying to give you the impression that these leads are just waiting by the phone in anticipation for your call.

Sorry to disappoint you, folks... they're not.

And the cold reality is, if there actually were MLM leads like this... you'd NEVER see them. People like myself and other MLM industry leaders would buy every last one of them in a split second! You can count on that!

So, then, why buy MLM leads at all if they all stink? MLM leads are the life blood of your MLM business, and, without them, your MLM business will be nowhere. What's important is knowing the source of the MLM lead before even picking up the phone will make all the difference in the world whether you close that prospect or not.

Let me explain... First of all, "opportunity seeker" leads are a sham, in my humble opinion. Too often, these types of MLM leads are generated because someone clicked on a banner ad that said, "Win a free iPod or Dell computer" - or "Click the monkey, then just fill out this form." (We've all seen these crazy ads.) And, then they're on your list. Sure, this person may be looking for an "opportunity," but for WHAT is my question. Not exactly my idea of a "serious MLM business builder."

CONSIDER: If I bumped into Bill Gates (the wealthiest Billionaire alive) and told him I could show him how to double his money, he'd give me 30 seconds of his time.

Also, if Bill Gates would be interested in making more money, surely wouldn't everyone else on the planet be interested in making more money, too? Of course. You are, and so am I, and so is your best friend. So, to find people who are looking for an opportunity to make more money...look no further than your White Pages and start dialing.

Now, is this a smart idea? No. Why? Because we have all been pounded with "money-making" schemes all our lives and we're sick of them. That, aside from risking dialing numbers on the Do Not Call list. For 100 reasons, do not start dialing through your White Pages...please!

You have to know "what did these people do to get on this list?" Also, knowing "how long ago" they did it helps, too. Many lists have been circulating around for years. Again, this can often be a good thing, depending on what you're marketing.

"So, Mike, if 'opportunity-seeking' MLM leads are no good, where do I find good prospects for my MLM business?"

That's an excellent question... I'm glad you asked!

The trick is to approach people with your business from the standpoint of the value and benefit of what the business has to offer. Then, find lead lists of people who have expressed interest in a similar area.

For example, let's say your MLM company sells nutritional products. This is health & wellness. So, you might get a list of people who are interested in becoming more healthy, such as buying a list of gym memberships or people who bought exercise equipment or maybe people who signed up for Yoga classes, etc.

It doesn't have to be very recent. Someone who got a gym membership 3 years ago and dropped out 2 months later is a GREAT lead. Consider that person's lifestyle: they wanted to get more healthy, but didn't have the TIME to go to the gym. And you know, just like the rest of us, that person has been telling themselves for the past 3 years, "I gotta make time to go back to the gym - I gotta get in shape - I gotta get more healthy."

Do you see where I'm going with this?

Suddenly, out of the blue, YOU call them up and reveal the amazing value and benefits of your nutritional product and say, "Jane, if I could show you how to be more healthy with just an extra 30 seconds a day..."

You will be amazed at the response you'll get. When you do this right, not only will you never hear the words "I'M NOT INTERESTED," but you'll also close a LOT more business.

It's not rocket science... healthy people are always looking for more ways to become more healthy, aren't they? Whereas, unhealthy people aren't looking for ways to become more healthy. So, you have to think, "Which of these two groups is more likely to buy my nutritional product?"

So, go out and find the people who are already looking and give them what they're already looking for and stop trying to convince people who aren't looking. It's too hard.

Of course we're all looking for an opportunity for something better. That's a given! Your job is to figure out if the opportunity is right for them...based on their needs or wants. (And not trying to convince them it's right for them based on YOUR needs.)

So, now, hopefully you can see how knowing the SOURCE of your MLM leads can turn frustrations into easy profits.

Here's to your MLM success!

Perhaps you are considering launching your very own business or buying an established business, certainly this is a very exciting time for you; the road ahead is paved with both excitement and risk. Nothing in the world of business compares to becoming your own boss in your own company.

Perhaps you are attracted to the promise of financial independence of running your own business, or the bliss of not having to answer to someone else as a boss, the dream of not being a slave to someone else's rules and limitations is a potent one. If you are considering striving towards this dream at the moment I imagine that you are carefully examining all of your available options that would free you from the chains of your present place of employment.

The dream might be strong enough but you must take control and be realistic of your expectations. The potential financial gains may be attractive but one must consider the cost of time involved, financial expenses and genuine effort involved in becoming independent.

Despite the promise of financial rewards and limitless opportunity you but realistically be prepared to accept the truth, that is you are unlikely to see much, if any reward for some months, or even years.

Launching your own business, while holding down your present work is the wisest way to begin. But there are other options available, such as building an adequate financial savings account to carry you through the early steps in your own business. These savings must be strong enough not only to carry you personally though these days, but your business also.

You must also be aware that time is going to be required when launching your own business, and lots of it. It might sound silly having to mention a time factor where passions are involved, love is likely to drive you forward, but in the real word we do have other obligations apart from our future aspirations. Certainly in this world we have family and friends, and real commitments not at all related to our businesses. You must consider how much real time to have available to spend in launching your business.

Expendable effort is another consideration that must be taken into account before any business may be considered profitable. You really must consider how much effort you have available and the results you would expect to create from what you give. The truth is that you will be working for free some days, client hunting, marketing and yes, even free jobs, are all things that come with the territory if we like it or not. Many days will seem to be so much work and nothing to show for it.

This is when many people simply give up. This is where you will have to dig into your reserves and stay strong to the task. This is when you're working your hardest; it is a sad shame to think that you would give up now. Mentally it is a real challenge, but this is where the real entrepreneurs are separated from the wishers. Some will see these obstacles as something that will be overcome; others will not keep the faith. Some will succeed some will not.

Here, if you keep on keeping on you will begin to see the fruits of your labors real soon, and then you will know, without a doubt, that it was all worth the work.

Continual lead generation is vital to the success of any multi-level marketing business. Finding people who will listen to MLM home business ideas and opportunities is easy; finding those who are serious about starting a legitimate business is difficult at best. An important part of successfully managing your multi-level marketing business is finding the best way to generate leads. While purchasing leads from a vendor may be a popular form of lead generation that takes little effort, there are many unique advantages to generating your own leads.

QUALITY
Leads purchased from a vendor have been collected using a variety of methods. A percentage of those leads may have filled out a form thinking that they were entering a contest or requesting information about an educational resource. They may not be interested in home business ideas and opportunities yet you still pay for their contact information.

SPECIFICITY
Leads purchased from a vendor are not industry specific. There are no guarantees that every person on your purchased list is interested in your version of a multi-level marketing business. They may have already tried an MLM business and may be looking for a different type of marketing opportunity.

TIME SAVINGS
Generating your own leads with a website gives you control over what material is presented to prospective recruits and saves you time by eliminating the need to sort out uninterested persons.

RESPONSIVE
Multi-level marketing leads generated by individual business owners are more responsive and eager than leads purchased from a vendor. You will most likely be the first and only person to approach them about your multi-level marketing home-based business opportunity, increasing your chances of a sale. These leads are fresh, hot and exclusive.

CONTROL
When you use custom forms to generate leads, you can determine the level of interest of a recruit by placing specific questions on the form. This saves you time by helping to weed out those who are not ready to get serious about a multi-level marketing business. Including a comments space in the opt-in form for people to provide you with invaluable personal information is an added bonus of creating your own leads.

COST
Generating your own leads is more of an investment of time and knowledge than of capital. The only costs are your advertising fees and tools, such as your lead capture pages and an autoresponder. Some of these tools can be found for free on the Internet if you are willing to invest the time to search for them. Generating your own leads is more cost effective but also more labor intensive than purchasing them from a leads vendor.

RESPONSE TIME
Leads generated from a website come in as the interested person enters the information. This allows you to contact the person while they are still excited about the concept of becoming self employed. This is especially powerful for people who are in higher ticket business opportunities and need the highest quality leads. Nothing beats having company specific, real-time leads in your inbox waiting to be contacted about your product or opportunity.

Because lead generation is so critical to the continued success of your business, finding the most cost effective, and time sensitive method of collecting the highest quality leads should be a top priority for any multi-level marketing home-based business.

Have you ever dreamed of heading a business of your own from inside of your home? If you've pondered this option (whether it is for full- or part-time) and you are good with people but possess minimal business savvy, then Multilevel Marketing (MLM) is a viable solution. This is also a great choice if you are low on start-up cash.

MLM companies supply a product or service to customers through a web of "independent" distributors, who usually set up shop in their homes.

Reliable MLM companies offer low start-up costs, provide all necessary training, help with advertising, and provide you with a line of products or services to offer the public. They also encourage you to recruit additional distributors and generate commissions on their total sales.

Despite all of this, the United States Federal Trade Commission tells people to approach MLM companies with caution, as some people are paid through every distributor you bring aboard (much different from receiving a commission on total sales that are generated). Beware of this practice, as it is against the law and referred to as "pyramiding."

The FTC in the United States additionally suggests that you complete a lot of research on an MLM company before signing any paperwork. Signing documents under pressure is also discouraged, as it is important to take your time with these sorts of decisions. A helpful page to look into is the Multilevel Marketing Caution Web Page found at the Federal Trade Commision's web site. Here, you will encounter seven checks you should complete before deciding to finally join a specific company.

When it comes to going into business, research becomes a rather important process, and establishing a distributorship with a MLM company certainly falls under this requirement.

Trying to locate information on "Multilevel Marketing" by using the Internet produces a hodge-podge of results. The details of this venture span sites like general information arrangements, government agencies, encyclopedia-like sites, and testimonials from former MLM distributors, who are most likely unhappy with their results. This is because the people who are excelling in MLM do not have the time to create websites on the subject, as they are too preoccupied with building up their network.

The Good Points

When looking for advantages to locating a reliable MLM company, consider:

- The company is established and offers a product line or service that is rather marketable. They also make a great effort to improve or add to existing line-ups.
- When recruiting fresh distributors, the company does not follow pyramiding schemes.
- The company is linked to a solid track record and showcases great work ethics.
- You don't need any experience. A beneficial MLM company delivers one-on-one training that may include motivational seminars and helpful training materials. The goal is to make sure everyone succeeds, which means everyone benefits.
- A trustworthy MLM company is family-oriented and doesn't allow explicit conduct.
- Decent bonuses and numerous incentives are given to top-workers.
- An MLM company is well established when they can give you resource material that furthers both the sale of products and recruiting.
- The fees to start-up are low.
- They offer a strong support system.
- Good examples help lead the way.
- The competition amongst peers is non-threatening.
- New workers are greeted by a profitable business and marketing plan that is already in place and easy to follow.
- Both full-time and part-time opportunities exist.

These are some of the characteristics that the ideal Multilevel Marketing Company should possess; yet not all reliable companies will showcase these benefits. You will find that some companies are better is certain areas than others. This is why researching companies is important. Don't just settle with the first motivational hype to come along - a common ploy amongst the majority of MLM companies in an attempt to recruit.

Some MLM distributors have been in the business for so long, they are able to spit out a "come-back" for nearly every statement or question you express. Beware of this, as this is known as a "high-pressure" invitation to become a part of a company. You always need time to soak in all of the information, especially if you've been hit by excitement. Sit down and take a deep breathe before making a decision and remember that research is key. When companies are good, they will still be waiting for your decision with patience and will probably conduct a follow-up phone call.

The Bad Points

When looking to accomplish great things in life, the MLM model seems pretty promising, however it is foolish to think no down points exist. Consider the following:

- Disreputable MLM companies are notorious for taking advantages of newcomers, making research all the more powerful.
- When planning to create a network (a "downline"), it can cost more money than you are ready to commit to and can take more time than expected. However, this is still a big difference from the costs and time involved with beginning a traditional business. Most of the money is spent of the resources and training materials that you will deliver to your downline distributors.
- A lot of money is usually spent on gas for your car, eating out, and hotel rooms.
- Some companies require you to commit to minimum monthly orders to keep up with your distributorship.
- Some companies only pay for recruiting other distributors and do not give out a commission based upon total sales. Remember - this is pyramiding and it is illegal.
- Some companies may promote product that "sell themselves," but you really can't make a lot of profit with little to no effort. A lot of energy and motivation is required for any business - traditional, online, or MLM.
- A lot of rejection comes with the territory, as more than 80% of the people you come in contact with are going to turn you down.
- Overspending is often a consequence of ventures that spiral out of control. Some companies are masters at making you feel pressured about spending more than you can afford.
- Some people make this business their entire life and as a result can cause friction with family and friends. It is not uncommon to see a worker choose a MLM seminar over attending a family wedding if they are held on the same day.
- Like all other businesses, you will start off spending more money than you are making.

The final conclusion: The majority of business entrepreneurs often ask themselves the question of how much they will be able and are willing to lose if MLM doesn't work out? This is an inquiry that you must ponder when considering Multilevel Marketing.

Also, what are you seeking out of life and what steps will you take to achieve it?

If you take pleasure in helping others find success so that you too can reap the benefits, are willing to take risks for a business (even if for part-time ventures), and are willing to put in the work (and time) that stretches across long days, then Multilevel Marketing may prove just the thing you've been waiting for to realize all of the business and life goals you have set for yourself.

Cheers to success!
