Do You Fear Success In Network Marketing?

Fear can be a very strong influence of human behavior especially when it comes to success in network marketing. Some of us are described as secret agents because we do not advise others about our businesses. Most fear is manifested in self-esteem issues.

Self-esteem is defined in terms of how we evaluate ourselves and our characteristics, the "personal judgment of worthiness that is expressed in the attitudes individuals hold toward themselves," in the words of self-esteem pioneer Stanley Coopersmith. A fear of failure can result in procrastination and inaction which equates into how successful one can be personally and professionally.

Dr. (Col) Rajinder Singh, a Chandigarh-based psychiatrist, says most of our fears are unfounded, have no basis and are not reality-oriented. When attending an interview, changing a job, traveling alone or making cold calls to prospects become much-feared tasks because we perceive them to be so in our minds. It just stands to reason that most of our fears are being self-generated.

Fear of incapability or failure is the strongest of fears that plague us. These fears keep us from improving our lives, accomplishing our dreams and rising above mediocrity. It stops us from experimenting, taking risks, making choices, setting deadlines, changing for the better, exploring new avenues and even making new friends. This lack of confidence can restrain us from undertaking rewarding and profitable network marketing activities.

Fear of failure and leaving one's comfort zone compliment because both lead to inaction or being stuck at a certain place. The anxiety occurs because the person is aware of the necessary behavior to obtain a favorable outcome but due to their anxiety a successful out usually escapes them.

After getting to a point of facing your fears, what happens if you succeed? Is this reinforcement of subconscious negative self doubt or is it reality after all? For the person fearing success, in their mind, the wise thing to do is to avoid having to deal with the expectation of failure and the anxiety that comes with it.

How does one combat fear? We need to change our self talk and replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts. A person can go so far as to even change the frequency they are around negative people. Replace them with positive friends and family members. These people just feed your self doubt and fear.

Focus on success, positive self talk and taking action. Make positive outcomes a goal and keep a written record of your accomplishments. Some other ways to combat fear are:

Acknowledge it: you can't change what you don't acknowledge. It's tough to realize your fear of failure especially when you're involved in network marketing activities that are designed to lead to your success. That alone can be stressful, but it can be done and it is the first step to working out your fears.

Face Your Fear: Come up with solutions to your worse fears. Ask yourself what will be your course of action when faced with your fear in certain type of situations. Have some idea on how to handle the situation and for yourself to be relaxed while doing so. Begin to look at these scenarios as a training exercise for yourself. Grade yourself and be honest about your actions and behavior.

Question your fear: Question the validity of your fears. There is a saying about the word FEAR: false evidence appearing real. I think fears are like perceptions, they become one's reality. The evidence the person believes is false, it's not real but their imagination or perception of what is going on is real to them. Basically, self sabotage.

We invent our fears and we sometimes think others share our same beliefs and attitudes regarding who we are as a person. This is not true, but can be very difficult to dispute if you're the person experiencing the anxiety associated with fear. I'm not sure questioning your fears will make them less real, but consistent positive self talk and making a conscious effort to exceed the limitations can help in diffusing fear.

Challenge your fear. This takes courage and the willingness to experience some awkwardness at times as you practice on positive behaviors that will assist you in overcoming your fears. Remember, you have control over your fear and the outcome you wish to accomplish.

Practice courage: Exercise your courage. Acknowledge your fear and understand most people would feel the same, but this time work through your fear and take action. Afterwards bask in the knowledge that you conquered you fear without any painful repercussions. You continue to do this and you will begin to build confidence in the areas where your fear shows up the most.

Leave your comfort zone: Slowly begin to move out of your comfort zone in a manner that is not stressful to you. Sometimes you have to do things on your own time frame. You will realize with practice, courage and new found positive self talk that your comfort zone will expand to include other accomplishments which you may have considered otherwise impossible to achieve.

If You Want Network Marketing Success: Step Outside Your Box

Do you sometimes wonder why success is so elusive for some and for others it seems to come in volumes without much of an effort? I think it has a lot to do with your self-esteem and the willingness to leave your comfort zone. Stepping outside your box, how do you make that a reality? Is it all that elusive for the wannabes yearning for personal and financial success?

Imagine a box that you have created that surrounds you and you're standing in the middle of that box. Only you know the limitations the box places on you. Is this how most of us live our lives? Operate our business ventures? Success could not be totally out of reach. One has to visualize themselves letting go of their comfort zone and then of course placing their efforts into action.

For one to exit their comfort zone it has to be a slow deliberate process. For example, like having a cheerleader or a partner that is willing to encourage, coach and coax you from the safety of your comfort zone would help the most. This person becomes your strength and mentor. Basically, they hold you accountable for following up on tasks and be a person of action. Your efforts match your word and goals you have for yourself and business.

Further, stepping out of your comfort zone can be seen as stepping out on faith and believing in yourself no matter how many times you take on the challenge and fall short. Sometimes, the moment is just not right. What's great is that we always have the option of a do over . . . to take another opportunity to excel and succeed.

You don't ever throw in the towel. You take one end of the towel and your cheerleader takes the other end. Ask them to hold on tight as they assist you in crossing the threshold of your imaginary comfort zone to realize your potential not only professionally, but personally as well.

You have to believe that you are someone who has the desire and aptitude to succeed. However, for one reason or another you have built these imaginary walls around you in order to cope with your life. This does not have to be your curse or a hindrance to your personal growth. It can be a learning experience, something that you can work through slowly realizing your accomplishments as you create positive possibilities for your life.

What is admirable is the person that continues to make the effort to cross their imaginary boundaries that bound them in order to test the water. It is like watching a toddler first learning to walk. They stand up, shaky at first and then take a few tentative steps as they hang on to their support which is usually their parents' hands or a nearby table or chair until they are walking without assistance! And have you noticed that all of them have a smile on their face as they realize what they have accomplished. I don't know of any sad toddlers once they learn to walk.

Successful thinking and taking action can sometimes be buried within us, and it is up to us to search and discover where our success mode is hidden. The will to achieve and succeed is within all of us; it is called the human spirit. We have all seen it in others and have admired their achievements against all odds. We need to know how to tap into that inner spirit which can inspire us all to greatness. Make a commitment to yourself to awaken the giant within and be all that you can be!

A majority of Herbalife distributors make a very crucial mistake when choosing and building their business. They focus too much of their attention on all the wrong things. Let me explain. Often times, when potential distributors are searching for an mlm opportunity all they can think about is the top-notch, revolutionary products that Herbalife offers, or maybe it's the one-of-a-kind compensation plan that will finally help them achieve financial freedom. Now don't get me wrong, these things are important and should factor into their decision, but they shouldn't be the first things on their list.

You see, the most important thing a distributor can think about when choosing and building a successful business is the marketing aspect. The products and comp plan need to take a back seat to their marketing efforts. Because marketing is really the only way they'll really be able to expand their Herbalife home business. Too often, distributors go jumping around from company to company chasing after the latest and greatest products only to fail with each new attempt. They shouldn't wonder why they aren't successful.

It's like McDonald's, you know the fast-food restaurant that is on every street corner in America, and even across the world. How many people out there could make a better-tasting hamburger than they could? I can think of a few people, myself included. Why then, is McDonald's a multi-billion dollar company? Do you see my point? A lot of people can come up with a great product, in fact it could be the best. But it all comes down to how you market your product. You can have the most effective, groundbreaking product in the world, but if you're not using effective marketing no one will know and no one will care. An effective sales and marketing system is by far the most important factor to any business, and should take top priority for anyone who wants to be a successful network marketer.

A lot of Herbalife distributors fail to realize that marketing and sales is the only activity in their business that's bringing in cash. Everything else uses up that cash. Herbalife products, the compensation plan, corporate teams, upline sponsors, these are all important, but they don't generate any kind of revenue. They aren't income-producing aspects of their business. Take away sales, and they wouldn't even have a business!

Herbalife can have the greatest products, and the most breath-taking compensation plan available, but if distributors aren't moving any product or closing any prospects, there isn't much to compensate. Think about this for a minute. People will make a lot more money with an average product and an incredible marketing system than they would with an incredible product and an average marketing system.

Just ask Robert Kiyosaki and Seth Godin. Both are very successful businessmen, Robert is a best-selling author and Seth is also a best-selling author and was the former Vice President of Marketing for Yahoo! Both agree that marketing is the most important aspect of any business. Seth had this to say,
"Marketing is all there is. You don't win with better shipping or manufacturing or accounts payable. You win with better marketing."

Now I'm not saying that Herbalife distributors shouldn't be concerned with the quality of their products or the compensation plans of their opportunity. Like I said before, these things are important, after all, people should want their products to meet the expectations of their customers so that they'll become repeat customers. But marketing needs to take top-priority before anything else.

I think that Herbalife really drops the ball when training their distributors. They don't stress proper marketing enough, and the support that they do provide in this area is outdated and ineffective. The brochures and websites that distributors are provided with often times do more harm than good, because they fail to use good direct response techniques. Pretty colors, graphics, and logos don't sell, and Herbalife fails to realize this.

Each time that you refer someone to the program, you can make residual income. Also, you can make additional residual income for each time your referrals sell products.

The affiliate company offers you free membership to join. This is great! After all, if you could afford to pay for membership, you probably would not be seeking out residual income.

The company can send you a health product or nutritional supplement sample for free so that you can familiarize yourself with the product. That reduced or bargain charge for the product just paid for your free membership.

Wow, you get not one, but two free websites to sell products. They are already built and everything!! Put up the red flags. Are you being scammed into paying for hosting fees, set-up fees, monthly service fees, and other hidden charges for your free website? Sure you will make the money back in residual income or you might not. But you can bet that the company that is giving you the free website with hidden costs is receiving a portion of the monthly fees you will be paying. Reputable companies will not charge any additional fees.

Many of the members make several thousands of dollars a month with the program in residual income. This is wonderful! Now you can quit your full time job and make hundreds of dollars with just a few hours of work a day.

Guess what? You have just been scammed again. Residual income is a slow and steady stream of income. It is not a sudden instant money machine at your fingertips. Companies that make claims of fast and quick money are not very reputable. You are promised the moon and delivered a pile of dirt at the end of the day.

If you're currently involved with Arbonne or if you've ever been involved with them in the past than I can almost guarantee you that you've heard this whopper of a lie at one of your weeknight hotel meetings: "Everyone is your prospect!" Or maybe it sounded something like this: "Everyone wants this, they just don't know it yet!"

This blatant lie has some distributors in Arbonne talking to everyone within a three-foot radius of them about their awesome business opportunity. Whether it's a college student waiting tables at The Olive Garden or if it's a middle-aged cashier working the register at your local gas station, they all want in on your business! Listen to that nonsense! And to think this hogwash is passed off as an effective recruiting technique by Arbonne to their distributors.

People wonder why network marketing has such a negative reputation. I can't imagine why. Maybe it's because these pre-historic methods of recruiting have placed mlm distributors on the same level as that one guy outside your gas station peddling "real gold chains." It's hard to take him seriously when he's offering you a "piece of jewelry" for only twenty bucks. The same can be said for network marketers who try to recruit anything that moves and breathes into their downlines.

Here's the truth of the matter. In network marketing, everyone isn't your prospect. This might be hard to swallow, but it's true. Everyone doesn't have what it takes to run their own business and be an entrepreneur, and some people just don't want to! Some people really enjoy waking up and going to work, and some people have all the money that they'll ever need. Whatever the reason might be, you shouldn't spend your time and energy trying to convince anyone to become involved with your business. Because no one is worth your time until they've shown an interest in what you're offering.

I can bet dollars to donuts that you've all targeted that "perfect mlm prospect." That special someone who upon joining your Arbonne business will explode your downline. This person just got layed off, has tremendous social skills, knows all the right people, and would be an absolutely perfect fit. Sure, you could potentially approach them, but they're not worth spending any quality time on until they're seeking a solution to their problem.

If you decide to approach your prospect this way, it shows them that you're the type of businessperson who isn't professional or successful enough to invest in some respectable marketing methods. You're advertising yourself and your Arbonne business in a very amateur way. Again, this gets into the whole issue of all the negativity surrounding the industry, and why Arbonne distributors aren't taken seriously by their prospects.

It really boils down to this. You can't chase down prospects, and give them a feverish sales pitch about your latest and greatest business opportunity. It just won't work, because this method screams desperation! Your prospects will view you as an unprofessional nuisance. In network marketing this isn't a good image to have. Who finds who first is very important. When your prospect finds you and seeks your professional opinion, you're viewed as the expert. Positioning yourself this way is definitely one of the keys to successful recruiting.

It just doesn't make any sense to headhunt and force-feed prospects who aren't the least bit interested in your Arbonne business. (Crazy as that may sound) There are lots of people in the world that want to start their own business, and these are the people you should be spending your time prospecting.

If they do not have their - WHY -, you will have to help them find it. A really specific one. Their - WHY - is a big, big, big reason that will keep them going. Where is your fire? What do you love? What do you hate? What is really important to you? What do you really want? What situation in life do you want to get out of so it never ever happens again? It is not goals. It is not money, either.

Your real - WHY - is never money. It is about who you really are.Your driving factor must be way more than money. It is something you want ... or something you want to get away from. Better yet, both. If your - WHY - is a 70% and you come up against an obstacle that is a 72%, you are gone. You will drop out, disappear. But when your - WHY - is a 99.9%, then you are here to stay and be successful. Strengthen your - WHY - !

Constantly keep on learning and develop your self to be able to pass on your knowledge to others. And find a mentor. Be a mentor. You must have a mentor to be a mentor. It is the simple and organic way of building a successful mlm business.

Your spider web, if you build it right, if you treat it right, will last forever. There are a thousand ways to build a network marketing business. But there is only one way to build your spider web for life-long success. And that is to build relationships.

People. Relating and Mentoring. People join people, they do not join companies.
