Many aspects of network marketing have evolved particularly during the past ten years. The internet has added a completely new dimension to the industry and has virtually ensured you don't have to confine the majority of your prospecting efforts to your backyard.

Network marketing lead generation no longer means you harass friends, family and casual acquaintances. Sure, this style of prospecting still has it's place within your marketing system but you don't want to be relying on it to build your business.

Leads are the lifeblood of any MLM business; without them you remain stagnant and your business becomes like a pool of dead water. They breathe life into your downline and without a steady flow of prospects coming through your funnel, how do you you expect to build your downline?

How To Generate Leads

There are certainly more opportunities available to the distributor today to generate targeted leads. Let's take a look at some avenues you might find useful in creating an extra stream of prospects.

1. Build a blog. Blogs have become the signature of many successful people online and without one, you are getting left behind. A blog can establish you as an expert and by adding useful content to it on a regular basis, content readers can make use of, you'll quickly develop some status within your chosen field.

2. Utilize Web 2.0 tools. For example, building a Squidoo lens and adding your thoughts on network marketing lead generation and other aspects of the business and then linking to your blog. It's just another avenue to develop your expert status.

3. Find other blogs with the MLM field and read the content. When you find something worth commenting on, leave comment and your thoughts on the matter discussed with a link back to your blog.

4. Scan the various groups through Google, Yahoo and MSN and read the posts made by people. Again, if you find a topic you feel strong enough about or there's a problem someone is having with their business, leave your thoughts. You are aiming to provide a useful solution.

The last two points are excellent ways to gain some expert status but remember, don't just leave comments for the sake of it. This will do your reputation more harm than good. By making contributions which others will find invaluable and by linking back to your blog you can quickly get plenty of traffic to your site.
